(CURRENT) Prague with Airmiles from Manchester - 2000 airmiles +£0

OR 1,250 miles + £60
(NEW) Prague with Avios from Manchester - 9000 avios (900 airmiles) +£27
For other destinations, we will be able to calculate whether they are beneficial or not only after they release the new zone map.
I get how it is beneficial for Prague!!
Cannot see where it is ONLY beneficial for Prague (and the other 3) as you stated.
I am supposing that as only those 4 are changing, the rest will stay in the same zones.
And then for non London flight they are all beneficial (for the zones to 3). Read my previous post #4 where I indicate my calcs.0 -
I've just checked the taxes/fees for the flights I'm looking at for Hong Kong next year - it'll be £316 per person on a £716 flight. Obviously it's better to pay £316 rather than £716, but surely they can't be charging the same number of miles/Avios for that?
13,000 miles are buying me £1432 worth of flight if I book before the cutoff - so surely afterwards 130,000 Avios can't possibly be buying £800 worth of flight with £632 charges on top???0 -
Sydney looks like 100,000 avios (or 10000 airmiles multiplied up). so cheaper in miles but what about the additional costs?
I cant find this anywhere.0 -
Hi,
Havnt digested this news yet and its come in a week when I have been planning on using airmiles to fly from Manchester to Barcelona next June. This is currently Zone 2 (1500 airmiles) + 500 airmiles to fly out of Manchester. There are three of us traveling. (6000 airmiles total for return flights)
I would be grateful if anyone who has enough knowledge of the changes can advise whether I should spend my miles now or wait until the change over to the new Avios points0 -

I cant find this anywhere.
Because it differs to the airport, fuel price, airline and God knows what.
Look at normal ticket price somewhere (like BA) and you should know more.. the quote will be divided (I think) into Flight, surcharge and airport fees... So you will know roughly where you stand now.0 -
You need to work out what the costs are - search for the flights you're thinking of on the BA website and it's in the small print towards the bottom of the page with the costs on. As I said, a Hong Kong return next year is £316 per person. Whether this still represents good value all depends on how many Avios they want for the flights - if that stays the same, it's terrible for long haul.0

Can't seem to find the new zone/points map. Has anyone got a link?

If I am not mistaken Barcelona is Zone 2
You will have to pay some cash (£27 per person), but only current 1500 miles - which will be 15000 Avios (no fee for flying from Manchester) so it depends whether you want to pay any cash.0 -
