Took little Mikey to the dentists this morning as he also needed a tooth out it was one of his little teeth that he kept getting an abscess under for some reason although it was not damaged in any way and he was a terriffic brave little soldier and not a problem at all.The boys are so used to the dentist as a thing they just have to go to and I never make a fuss about it so neither do they I have been taking them almost since they had teeth and not one of them acts up at all. There was a young lass there of around 12 and you'd have thought she was having her head removed the fuss she made surrounded by granny, grandpa,Mum and an auntie. The nurse said that Mikey was great and the easiest patient they had had this morning, bearing in mind that he is seven I was very proud of him.We went home and I did him some of Grannies scrambled eggs for lunch which is a treat as I make it with butter and a dash of milk and he almost ate the plate as well. His dad has got the boys this afternoon so I have the afternoon off but tomorrow is the last day of the holidays so we may go to the local Riverside Country Park for a picnic. They love it there as with luck we may get some more blackberries so I must remember to take an extra tuppaware box. This past 6 week have whizzed by and come Monday its back to school for them all.DGD Katie started her job this morning at the nursery I hope she has got on o.k.
I took what I thought was some lamb chump chops out of the freezer last night and discovered this morning that it was braising beef so it went into the SC with lots of veg and herbs and a dollop of red wine ect and tonight I will have beef ratatouille for dinner with enough left over for tomorrow night as well.I must remember to mark on the package what I have put in there or its a case of freezer roulette:)

Just had a good laugh. Went into Co-op and bought 4 cheese twists - it's the only shop treat we allow ourselves. Did the self-checkout thingy and at the end told that the bill was £40+. ?????????????????
Went to the kiosk with my bill to investigate and the chap told me that it had come up as 44 cheese twists and did I want a refund or the other 40 twists. No prizes......

Donny-gal and Red Ruby: are you finding that everyone you tell about the appalling hospital treatment for old people, has their own horror story to tell? I agree that indivdual people are kind but I repeat, The System Stinks. One nurse had the temerity to tell me that my Dad had made a dramatic improvement since he'd been in hospital. I said that a two and a half stone weight loss, one hearing-aid broken and the other lost, two falls and a broken pelvis didn't constitute any improvement in my book.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi SC I got fed up with expensive ink so although it was a lot of money £100 I got a kodak wi fi one the ink is less than £20 a time.
thanks , we have got a kod@k one as it is cheaper for the ink , its not a posh wifi one like yours lol , so hopefully will be ok . ( the man in the shop said it printed almost twice as much as other cartridges as well :T)0 -

Lol that reminds me of when I asked OH what size feet he had on our first date, and he laughed and told me the formula for working the size of "things" out, and demonstrated it with his fingers:eek::eek:I knew we would have a second date at least at that moment;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

He bent his finger, think it was the index finger down over his palm, and I think it's the measurement of the total finger and the space it takes up when it's bent.I'll check it out tonight and let you know, on an OS basis of course;);):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Tee hee. I have a plaque on my bedroom door with the dormouse from Alice in Wonderland - The Teapot. Makes me smile every time I see it. And it is so apt. Hibernation is the key! Autumn and winter are my favourite except for the lack of daylight.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -
I love autumn and winter and cant wait for it to get here:j
Redruby sorry to hear about the "care" your dad is getting. Are there any other places he could go?
Sistercas I used to be a sister at St lukes, I love palliative care. Some people find that odd but i love making a person feel well cared for and pulling out all the stops to do everything they need in their final weeks, and making sure them and their relatives and friends have all the support they need to get through it all. Some nurses have the opinion of whats the point of that kind of nursing when there is nothing else you can do for them......on the contrary, there is plenty you can do and ensuring that someone has a good death is a very under rated skill:o
Feeling much better today at last...was in bed at 7pm last night! Had a good rest and cold almost gone now.0 -
HI Oldtractor. My husband too is a 50/50 partner in OS.We are both retired on basic gov't pension so needs must. However we really enjoy our frugal lifestyle together and have lots of satisfaction knowing that we are not a drain on todays taxpayers . DH today has been harvesting the potatoes and what a crop we've had this year! We have enjoyed some for our (mid-day)dinner together with runner beans and cooking bacon(Bacon Bits) and people in star resturants couldn't have had a nicer meal. I have been busy 'jaring' Tomatoes this morning . I like to aim at 52 jars(one for each week) and we are now past that already .
I feel I am lucky that I have a like minded husband as if we didn't work together we should be in debt up to our eyes.0 -
I too am lucky with DH we have struggled all of our married lives financially but we have got through by being frugal and managed to buy a house. DH is as thrilled as me to find a bargain and adores rummaging in charity shops and he is a fantastic forager.
He has always come shopping with me and is horrified as to how fast prices are rising.
He eats anything that I put in front of him (apart from peas or fish, but saying that he loves my HM tuna burgers)
Even DD and DS are super frugal and DS saved all of his EMA to buy a computer and I was so proud of him and DD is another charity shop lover, she learn't her frugal lesson when she went to uni and said if it hadn't been for the way she was brought up she would be up the creek without a paddle.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
