went to collect an order from next so i decided to nip into tesco and se eif they had any reduced fruit but they didn't so i grabbed a bunch of bananas and a can of free soup so 84p spend :) then i firgured ok i'd spent on banana i'll stop at the market so another £1 on a bag of apples, i stopped at the 90p milk shop but the dates weren't great so i'll still need milk, so a £1.84 spend

  • Was hoping for a NSD today but had a huge row with DD2 this morning as she would not get up for school - in the end I had to run her so she would be less late and felt so wound up on the way home that I went to Farm Foods and bought a bag of Revels and some Haribo Jelly Babies. Ate half the revels and a few jelly babies after lunch so now feel fed up AND sick - and £2 poorer!! I have £8 left until next week when I get paid and I really don't need anything except milk so should be okay.

Home made chicken soup for lunch and don't know what I am going to have for tea - DD2 is going out for tea and DD1 is having veggie fingers and chips from the freezer. I feel so sick after my Revels and Haribo that I can't even think about what I want!!

I have made out a list of easily made meals for next month using my Good Food family meals cookbooik and my Hairy Bikers Mums Know Best cookbooks. Will do a meal plan over the weekend and then sort out the shopping list. I do know that I am very sick of home made soup so will not be having that again for a while! (the freezer is full of the stuff though!)

Have any of you used the stand and store bags from home and bargain? They are only 79p and you can fill them with liquid and then seal them for freezing. I find that they are really good, plus you can wash them out after using and re-fill.

  • Got some bits and pieces Wednesday and only now been able to update. I spent £18.43. I still have a reasonable amount in the freezer. Will have a proper look before i go shopping at the weekend.

Thank you to everyone who made suggestions about how to use up my cupboard bits. I found a stroganoff recipe in one of my cookbooks which uses quite a bit of french mustard so I'm going to mealplan this in for next week to see if the family like it.

NSD for me today on the groceries front (did spend a bit on swimming -£3.65 for DS and I so not too bad). Made DS and I lunchboxes and snacks while I did DD's school lunch and snack this morning. Took a bit longer than usual but meant no money spent even while out all day :j

Making fishpie now. Trying out Jamie Olivers one which looks pretty quick to sort out as you don't have to pre-cook the fish. Doing it minus the chilli as kiddies wouldn't eat it with. Will let you know how we get on with it.

Want to do a pesto one, not entirely sure how much to put in or if I would need to add less liquid again to compensate, any idea?

Re washing powders - saw this linked to on another thread thought might be useful for some..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10KGS-TOP-BRAND-CRUSHED-WASHING-POWDER-TABLETS-/140602362274?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20bc8dc9a2
Re pesto well Id take a bit of a guess at using half a jar which is about 4 fl oz-I am guessing though as the jar is 190g if you are using shop bought pesto. This is mainly oil buy it wont hurt your recipe! So I would probably reduce it to 12 oz of fluids but it is guesswork(the best results are from original experiments) You could simply use fresh or dried basil for a similar flavour? However-pesto does sound yummy:T!
Re the soap powder-all I can say is WOW! you did good on finding that! I am tempted to get one although we generally use liquid.:T
