Hi everyone
Have had an epic fail this month, over £60 over budget and still 8 days to gohaven't actually got that much food in, so got to go shopping tomorrow aswell . Not really got a very good excuse either, have had a stressful couple of weeks, so its made me a bit lazy cooking wise.
Will need to have a good think about my budget for October as we've got visitors for a couple of the weekends and its dd's and my birthday'sso It'll have to go up!
Pleased with my nsd's if nothing else, I've totally resisted going into the local shops and 'just getting a couple of bits', just need to work on restraint in Mr T's0 -
I am really pleased that this challenge is making me look twice at bits and bobs in the fridge, rather than them just sitting there until I throw them out!! Last night we had left over roasted veggies (red onion, courgette, pepper and aubergine) heated up with some left over passata, stirred through some pasta and dotted with over feta! Off now to see what the freezer has to yield for next week....thanks to everybody on here for the inspiration!September Grocery Challenge £236.28/£2600

Getting a bit close to target now  and still got over a week left.
Still haven't sorted the freezer
And getting a bit bored with the same food
Think I'll have a root around on here for some recipes
Hope everyone else is doing well xDon't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend...

Mummyem I use cooked chicken usually, but you are supposed to just brown off some chicken breast cubes and put them in it. Doesn't matter either way actually.
Today I cleared out all my patio tubs (there are about 20 of them) and filled them with fresh compost so they are ready to be planted up. I usually plant winter bedding and bulbs but I had a thought that I might try some veg - trouble is I haven't a clue what to plant when - will have a mosey over to the green fingered board and see if there is any info. I reckon if I could grow my own carrots, potatoes, courgettes, onions, cabbages, sprouts etc I would save a good few bob!Jane

Sonastin so sorry to hear of your loss, I hope that her legacy will make your lives a wee bit easier x
Am typing this to the delightful smell of the quick easy herby bread recipe posted previously by Angelatgraceland. Anyway I made it VERY sceptically thinking, this'll never work! Well as well as eating the bread I shall be eating my words lol as it's beatuifully risen and browned - about to come out of the oven so I will report back!
Edit***Ok it's out and I couldn't wait to have a heel of it hot out of the oven! I think next time I will reduce the liquid a smidgeon as it is a teeny bit stodgy in middle but other than that am WELL impressed! I also put some garlic pwder into mine as well as the herbs - thinking ahead to do a pesto one...Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

TIA
Had my delivery of SOAPNUTS today which will last for absolutley yonks! For those who do not know about soapnuts do read this link:http://www.corick.co.uk/soapnuts.html
Basically you put these in your wash as a natural alternative to washing powder/liquid and they are great for anyone suffering from skin conditions. I get occasional eczema and I have dry skin but since using these it has greatly improved. they are very economical to use and you can even use them in your dishwasher! I just bought mine on e**y and they are great quality-anyone interested PM me for details but I think there are only one or two sellers on there at present.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

Well, today has been lovely. Not quite a NSD, but a low spend of £2.90, which fed all four of us dinner
Also, given the fact DH went to T's for us, it really is fantastic how he is taking this all on board :heartsmil:
