£2.11 in Tesco tonight on milk, rice noodles and todays bargain of bags of mixed peppers reduced to 11p! Ok, so they're not the prettiest, but 22p for 8 peppers can't be ignored.
They're all sliced, bagged and in the freezer ready for useGrocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Thanks for that idea TrixeB, that is worth looking into.
I have got about 40 old kilner jars, they need new rubber seals and I cannot get them any more, but, if I can find something that will work, I could experiment with different methods of preserving the apples.

another £10 today in l**l, on needed stuff and packet of chick and mush pastys. Didn't need the pasty as had packed lunch with me, and regretted it when they had so little filling it was all pastry:mad:
bought alot of diet pop as wanted some stores in if daughter or i are sick and not able to get to lidl (next door to work, 15 mile drive from home so only go on work days), the other week i ran out and really wanted some, and was shocked at mr t prices after the delights of diet freeway at 39p a bottle:eek:
doing ok on the challenge at the moment, have set myself a maximum spend of £8 a day to keep me mindful of not going over in the last week. Have enough bread for sandwiches but dd has raided the ham tonight when i wasn't looking so it's jam and marmite for the rest of the week now..:).nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.

There are kilner jar seals of all types on ebay - just search kilner seals.0 -
£3.03 spent in Mr T's during lunch break today - slightly whoopsied mushrooms and crumpets, plus another big bag of £1.99 lentils for the stash. Not sure where I'm going to squeeze the lentils in - just couldn't resist when I saw they were half price again. Now all I need to do is start using the things.Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides.0

Funnily enough, I was just looking on there.
I did look for them when I first got given the jars, about 4 years ago, but there were none the right size. I also tried a local kitchen shop, but none of the modern seals fitted.
The jars are stored in my parents shed at the moment, so will pop round and grab one to check the size.

Going to make up a batch of minced beef and onion in gravy and hlaf will be frozen and half used in tonight's steamed suet pudding
I was wondering if instead of a pudding if a savoury roly poly might work? maybe not for mince and gravy but the bacon pudding recipe knocking around or mabye cheese and onion... will try one next week!
NSD today as don't need anything and am not having a good day so won't be out and about today anyway.Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!
