September 2011 Grocery Challenge

I managed to get the few bits I need this week on my vouchers which I can use at Farmfoods. Vouchers don't count in my reckoning, so I will finish September -£1.03!
I have loads in freezer and larder and really would like to run the freezers down for Christmas so that I can take advantage of any offers then. I have been living off home-made soups and bread for lunch each day but OH is finding this a bit difficult on his stomach so we are having to go back to sandwiches most days. I've decided that unless there is a really good offer on Flora I will be buying other low-fat spreads in future. I use very little butter except in cooking occasionally but this too has risen exponentially recently.
It will be interesting to see what Tesco's promo will come up with but I still think the secret is to look at all the offers online and shop at those stores just for the special offers. Consume less and waste nothing and very gradually change cooking and eating habits and you can't go wrong. You might not have much free time though!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Jane - just melt it and dip the spoons in, leave to set - thinking a fast blast in freezer? - then dip again and so on and so on... or my other idea was to fill a small washed out lid from something and pour the choc in that and leave spoon in to set. I have some wee measuring cup type things that might suffice, or mini silicon muffin cases.Could do different coloured choc layers maybe, or add sprinkles or mini marshmallows on the last dipping? Making them for a coffee hamper for my DD.Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

Spent £43.81 today. Stocked up on tinned tomatoes that I use as a base for a lot of things due to DS2 not liking gravy. Then there are things such as milk, coffee, cartons of orange juice etc.
I did spend £5.94 on gammon steaks as a treat for dinner today to go with mushrooms and eggs, again DS2 does not eat eggs (unless egg sandwich) or mushrooms and as he is staying at DS1's tonight, I wanted to make the most of it.
DS2 is not really as fussy an eater as he sounds, it is just the things that he really does not like, are inconvenient!

HM sausage stew and HM quick herby bread - minus herbs but with garlic and chilli powder and a spag bol stock cube crumbled in!
boyfriend is increasingly moaning about my homecooking saying oh it's bland etc. Him and his family seem to live on beefburgers and chicken breast in crumbs and pizza and I let rip at him and said in future I'll stop wasting my time and effot on homecooking and we'll just eat crud from farmfoods. I think he's suitably shamed now. I love cooking from scratch and to my taste it's lovely, would rather have something fresh than full of additives and fat. but atm it is getting too much for me due to other reasons so I go mad batch cooking the days I can ready for the days I can't and it's just got my goat that he's pulling a face. I even bought Richmond Sausages as he said about them and I never buy those as I feel they are expensive, and hes moanded and said he doesn't like them *fume*

Got to admit I don't like Richmond sausages! How was your bread? Sounds lovely! I took some to work-couldnt eat it all and shared it with one of the girls who grabbed it quick! I can see why you are annoyed Trixie!. Ive had 2 NSDs. Working today with a heavy cold and I feel like CR** and only just getting tea on. Pasta with a jar of pesto and grated cheese due to lack of energy.
Had a flood this morning in the toilet where the basin hose sprang a leak and had to clear that up before work-luckily hubbby is sorting it and we have our carpet shamppooer to suck up the water and dehumidifier to dry out!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

Hey guys.
Although i havent officially startrd the challenge (payday is thursday) thought i would log todays spends to get me into the habit, was really annoyed today as my notebook broke down, took it to the comp shop to be told it would be £45 to fix it, i agreed and left it there, then realised an internet place around the corner probably would have done it cheaper, i didnt go in and ask as didnt want to wind myself up even more. so took it out on my pockets with useless junk!
