I disagree with you and It does make the cat think twice as to where it makes a mess.

Like I said before if cat owners were responsible the need wouldn't arise would it........

The only thing I would urge people to do who use a BB gun is to make sure your not going to hit anyone else with a stray BB and use common sense.

    What an utter t w a t you are !

If I saw you shooting a cat or any other animal for that matter then I certainly wouldnt hesitate in getting the full weight of the law down on top of you, people like you make me sick.

Your entitled to an opinion in the same way that I am. I don't resort to name calling if someone disagrees with me..

If you bothered to read my posts you would have noticed I don't hate cats, I'm actually an animal lover. I feed birds, put up nesting boxes ,make and fit Owl Boxes, watch Badgers, foxes and I have a maternity colony of Serotine bats in my loft so grow up and don't be such a drama queen.I don't kill cats just give them something to think about.

We are talking about a persistant pest here where owners fail to control their pets. My dogs don't fowl peoples gardens ..

Your comment says far more about you than it says about me.......;) If the vast majority of cat owners were responsible we wouldn't be having this conversation would we.

Not sure what you define as a BB gun but there is a very good chance that you could be prosecuted either for causing Criminal damage (s1 of the Criminal Damage Act) or causing unnecessary suffering to a animal (s4 Animal Welfare Act)

Cheap plastic BB pistol, bought from most high streets, generally orange or blue in colour to distinguish from replica guns or Section 5 firearm certifated handguns.

The BB guns I mention are very low powered and would sting but not kill...

Feel free to post your "cure " for the problem of cats litter ....I notice the cat owners on here are very good at suggesting what everyone else should do but exempt themselves from actually doing anything to sort out the problem.

    Ohhh bully for you !

Persistant pest or not, it is not reasonable to shoot a cat with a bb gun plain and simple, or any other weapon for that matter.

So shallI ask my neighbour to ask his pigeons not to c ra p on my garden ? and give him the ultimatum stop them or I will ?
This thread beggars belief that folks are talking about poisoning and shooting them.

Don't take my advice amiss I was just pointing out the possibilities if someone chose to report you.

If it were up to me cats would be treated the same as dogs and wardens would pick up strays but that isnt going to happen.

I would never encourage people to poison Cats, Like I said i'm an animal lover. This thread does show how frustrated people are with the problem of cat litter.Oh and shooting a cat to kill it is a world away from using a plastic BB gun so stop being such a drama queen.

As a holder of a Section 1 firearms certificate I still wouldn't dream of killing a cat.

So what do you suggest Muckybutt? come on ,whats your solution?.

I regularly use BB guns and higher powered air guns for sport shooting. I have seen a BB gun pellet brought on the high street pierce someone's skin from a decent distance (10-15 feet). Now as a human the man in question knew what had happened and got it removed. A cat, especially an outdoors cat, cannot communicate what has happened and it may be hours if not longer before it's owner discovers the wound. You don't kill them but you cause them injury that could lead to complications. Causing unnecessary distress and increasing the likelihood of infection. Shooting animals with BB guns is illegal (Causing unnecessary suffering under the Animal Welfare Act 2006) and the use of BB guns in this manner gives a bad name to all those who use them in sport. I am shocked that a holder of a firearms certificate would condone this behavior.

Most people don't like cats pooing in their garden but there are other ways of dealing with it rather than attacking the animal. Remember it is the owners who are at fault (if anyone, you try telling an outdoor cat where to crap), not the animal.

As a firearms licence holder you should know better then shouldnt you.

I certaintly wouldnt hesitate reporting you now knowing that, hopefully the plod would withdraw you licence just as quickly.

There is no definative answer !

Cats roam, they c r a p they pee you cant stop em, I have cats, I cant stop them from going in other folks gardens and I certainly wont keep them locked inside.

If any of my neighbours complained then i'd happily clean up after my cats, simple as that.

If you show wthe cat who's boss then it'll be less likely to come back again, cats dont like hissing noises, water bomb them with a water bomb, shout at them they'll soon get the message.

Like I said what about pigeons, birds, foxes, badgers, hedgehogs etc they all do their buisness in gardens so why the big fuss ? all you have to do is bag it up and put it in the bin !!!!!!

If you use BB guns and air guns you will no doubt know the difference between the BB guns I mention and those that you are talking about. They are worlds apart in power terms.

I ,like most other people have tried many different ways in which to stop them making a mess in the garden. If Owners were more responsible there wouldn't be a problem. If my dogs make a mess I clean it up and there are laws to make me do so but cat owners don't seem to see a problem and certainly don't make any effort on the whole to address it.They always tell us what we should do instead of being proactive.

Why does it shock you that a firearms certificate holder suggest using a £1-00 high st toy ? I've not once mentioned using firearms or air guns for that matter .
