  • Evening diary - well I have managed a NSD :T although about ruddy time!

DD bedroom is still in the same shocking state and I don't have any inclination to make a start on it :(

She is away this weekend so will prime myself for then. TBH will be easier as I can lob loads of things in the charity bag which she won't miss but if she were here would say she couldn't possibly do without! I know the mse way is to ebay but I actually prefer to give to charity than feel the resentment of someone buying something for pennies when it cost a lot more. Odd I know but that's the way it is.

With regards to cleaning I have not reviewed the Flylady way but from memory I will do the quick swish of the bathroom and downstairs loo each morning and have set up the cleaning stuff accordingly.

I will keep the kitchen sink shining (once I have removed the enamel paint splashes from DS having been painting airfix models ) and I will ensure the dining room table remains clear. It's the big hot dumping spot in the house. Still need to sort out what else needs to be done on each day but like my debt busting am taking a slower more pragmatic approach.

When I have tried to tackle cleaning before I have literally been doing every room every day and it would not be unusual for me to hoover the stairs at 11pm as I am going up to bed and use up a tin of polish in a week!!! That would last a couple of weeks and then things would then go completely the opposite way. Madness  so I am going to take the slow approach and gradually build up the routine.

Will be interesting to look back on my diary in a month or so and see how things are ;)

I'm convinced cleaning expands to fit the time available... There is always so much to do.

I feel the same re ebay - plus some fear - and tend to give to charity instead. We get a lot given to us - so it feels good to be able to pass on the blessing. We give stuff to friends too where we can. I am considering trying to sell some furniture on gum tree or in a local paper ad tho as I want a certain price for it...

  • Nice to know SH that I am not the only one who feels that way about ebay :)

I have passed lots of clothes on to friends and have given away some stuff on freecycle. That stops me feeling guilty when I pass the charity people in the straight or say no to the phonecalls asking me to give £2 per month:A

Just realised I need to update my sig as had the NSD yesterday. Unfortunately same can't be said about today as needed some stockings as laddered last pair. Being a woman is not cheap :( but then I guess I wouldn't want to be seen as a cheap woman ;)

No challenges were set today but have done the swishes around the bathroom and downstairs loo, kitchen sink and worktops are shining, quickly polished the lounge and made the kids clear the dining room table where they had dumped the contents of school and activity bags! Also managed a load of washing and made some chicken satay for kids lunchboxes.

On the ms side got Next to transfer a credit (returned a faulty item after transferring balance to 0% card) to my current account and requested account was closed to prevent any temptation. Only yesterday had VIP invite to the sale which I promptly deleted.

Going to quickly catch up on other diaries now and then off to bed.

  • Well done on dealing with the Next temptation that is fab. Well done on the NSD yesterday. I set myself a target of 10 NSDs this month but it is just not happening! Chicken satay sounds gorgeous... I was looking at a recipe the other day that suggested marinating for 5-8 hours - is that really necessary or do you know an easy cheat?

  • I googled a few recipes and in the end made up a marinade of soy sauce, peanut butter, fresh grated ginger, crushed garlic, lime juice & shot of tabasco. Left it to marinade for an hour or so and then grilled. Adding the lime causes the chicken to 'cook' so you can't marinate it for too long but I wanted the lime as to my taste for the hybrid recipe I created it needed something sharp to cut through soy sauce.

Not a traditional authentic satay but had to stop DS from eating it all so that's good enough for me!

  • I am also loving the idea of turning the sad faces into smileys! Also may steal the I start my next diary _pale_

You are doing good lady on the CC's with the 0%....but there is a lot of tumble drying going on, bit spendy!

  • Am still here diary - haven't deserted you just things have been manic at work and at home.

I am doing OK moneywise SH - a few unexpected spends and a few unecessary :o but all noted down and added up. Previously I wouldn't have done that!

Received a letter from Next today saying they have transferred the credit in my account onto my card - the one I told them had been closed. Am so  as spoke to them today and the lady said they had put in the notes that the card was closed. I was very restrained and said that wasn't it then a silly thing to do transferring the money to there and shouldn't they have called me first if they couldn't transfer to my bank account as I had been told they could!

Anyway the nice lady from the credit card company is going to send me a cheque.

Dealwithdebtdot - I know using the tumble drier is not mse but it means I stay on top of the washing and have minimal ironing which helps keep me sane!!

Am full of cold so will be an easy weekend pottering around the house I think.

Pay day next week - can't wait to start paying off the £££'s :T

Hi FB - I have a cold too - my sympathies to you !

I use tumbledrier for towels and underwear and emergencies LOL but most of the stuff gets put on the line or hung on the back of doors on hangers to dry - that way they can be put away when dry easily without ironing or anything else!

Irritating about next but at least a cheque is now on its way....
