  • I tried freezing milk in the past but found it a bit strange when de-frosted and it didn't taste quite the same. But if it mean less popping out and invariably picking up more than just milk will give it another go.

I tend to use Mr A for food shopping as have it delivered but am a bit of a tart and will go with whoever offers a discount or free delivery. Except for Ocad* as even with the discount it still seems sooo expensive. Thinking about it I used to regularly swap between the supermarkets as regularly got offers but haven't had any for ages.

I've found it is much cheaper to send my son or OH to the shop for milk or bread as they only come back with that... Whereas I come back having spent about £40. I am trying to reign it in again at the moment so am having a food shop delivered later today

Try and buy food from Farmfoods. They have some good offers. I think milk is around £1.80 for two 4 pinters. I have bought the chicken breasts and they are the best frozen ones I have tasted.

  • Unfortunately don't have a Farmfoods near to me :(

I have started to do my online shop for next week and Mr A is doing 2 x 4 pints for £2 so have added 4 to my basket. Have changed delivery day to a Thursday as cheaper than Friday.

My two are back to school tomorrow and it's DD first day at Secondary school - she is so excited and for once have had no trouble getting her to bed at a decent time. Let's hope it lasts.

tbh will be glad to get back to a normal routine although I hate the lunchbox part.

Managed to make the milk streeetch today so had aother NSD :D

Made a batch of veg curry today and have 4 portions with rice in the freezer. I used to regularly have a day of cooking and fill up the freezer with home made ready meals but have got out of the habit. Am going to get back into it as it is cheaper and removes the temptation of ordering a takeaway as I can't be bothered to cook.

It's not good when you are regularly getting texts from the Pizza Delivery company :( There was a time when I couldn't believe that people would pay so much for a delivered pizza when it was no effort to stick one in the oven from the freezer. I need to get back to that place!

  • Hi Diary - had hoped to post this morning before work but as 1st day back to school was a bit manic.

Did manage to do my weekly weigh in and have put on nearly 1lb. Have not mentioned before but as the number of takeaways and meals out have increased so has my waistline :( Anyway 4 weeks ago started on a diet and have lost 7lbs so far. Well was 8 until last week but I knew I hadn't been an :A with the food and drink!

Also I have been focussing on the £££s not the lbs - need to get a balance.

My plan was to lose another stone but having lost the first 7lbs I think another 7lbs will be enough - when we women reach a certain age without botox and fillers I think we need a little natural plumping of the fine lines. Or is that me going b*gger I enjoy my food - or is that me being lazy??? I am within a normal BMI range but was 0.1 away from overweight so decided to take action.

As for money today I had a ssd (is that right for small spend day?) needed to get the milk I had put off yesterday and post a couple of letters.

I have received pin number for my 2nd 0% card so definitely accepted. I have not checked today to see if any of the transfers have gone through on the 1st card. Will head off now and check and if done will report back with a :T

  • Morning Diary. Well still no transfers :(

Will set myself a few challenges today to get me motivated:
    Have a NSD
    Do some exercise
    Tidy and clean dining room
    Hoover stairs

Right better head off to work. Hope everyone has a good day

  • :T woohoo the first balance transfer has happened so that's the first chunk on 0%. Have used the now empty credit card to pay off a catalogue account (and will close it asap after an item I have returned is credited) and will then transfer that onto my second 0% card. Then I can cut up that old credit card :) and close the account.

I checked with my bank today and to pay off my loan I will need to have the cash in my current account. Cash has a slightly higher transfer charge but even taking this into consideration it will save me £150 in interest so it's worth doing.

I can't wait until everything is on the 0% cards and every payment reduces the balance by the full amount I pay :) rather than by the paltry amount on some cards due to interest.

As for my challenges - well it has been a NSD but am exhausted (obviously from the shock to the system of not spending ;)) so will go now and do the dining room and stairs but give the exercise a miss. A cup of tea and some TV will be the order of the evening after the housework.
