  • Hey Fuzzy. I found you're diary and subscribed :)
    DEBT TOTAL: £7609.44
  • Morning Diary

    Lots to do today:
    House to clean
    Several loads of washing
Shopping for last bits of back to school stuff

Will write a list and have lunch before heading into town to reduce the temptation to spend and stop off somewhere nice for lunch - one of my big contributors to overspending.

Well better get a wriggle on before Saturday Morning Kitchen starts otherwise will get nothing done and will be wanting to change my meal plan as I  over the fab food.

Hope people out there have a more exciting day than me ahead.

  • Had a bit of a revelation today.

On the way into town walked past a house similiar to mine which was having it's front drive block paved. Kerb appeal is something my house lacks and I thought it would be marvellous if I could have that and more importantly not have to deal with ruddy weeds!

Next thought was how much would it cost and I figured (and may be well out of the ballpark) £2000. What a lot of money - but hang on that is about 4 months of debt re-payments.

If I didn't have these ruddy debts from tbh frittering money I could in such a short period of time have work like that done. I feel really  with myself and very determined now to get rid of it ASAP.

I could also treat myself (very very very occasionally) to a lobster thermidor as cooked on Saturday kitchen this morning  I know I said I wouldn't watch it but I was doing housework at the same time!

I also religiously stuck to my shopping list BUT when it got to the cat food it was on offer (big bags 3 for 2) and I have to say I was stood there for ages with the dilemma of what it would do to this weeks budget. In the end bought it which will see me through the whole month if not two but means I only have £6.50 left until Friday. It will be a challenge to stay within it but should only need some fruit and milk to see me through til then.

Hi FuzzyBear just keep thinking about paying off your debt and think about what you can buy after you pay it off. But if you want a treat like Lobster Thermidor then use your food budget and keep a bit until before payday and treat yourself. No point paying all debt off and not enjoying life.

I agree with Flee you still need to have some treats along the way - life is for living and it can seem very long before the debt goes completely. Having said that I used the Make £10 a day challenge as a way to bring in extra income so I didn't have to cut back too much... Perhaps you could give that or the up your income board a go

  • Hi Paulwellerfan - hope you don't find things too boring!

Thanks Flee that's a good idea re trying to save a bit of the food budget and having a treat before payday. In the past it has been the opposite and to survive until payday have been known to raid the change pot for 10p's to buy value pasta and tin of tomatoes to make a meal :(

Will have a look at the Make £10 a Day challenge and up your income later.

Will be having a quiet day pottering at home and was hoping it would be a NSD but need to get more milk. Has anyone worked out whether it is cheaper to keep your own cow? Would also mean not having to mow the lawn - bonus ;)

Have decided to set myself my first challenge of 15 NSDs this month.

 Just dawned on me that I always buy the 2litre cartons of milk and am forever popping out to buy more. If I buy the bigger size will need to buy less frequently. Can't believe I didn't think of that earlier :doh:Didn't used to buy the larger one as kids would struggle with it and spill the millk everywhere but they are big enough now to manage it. Wonder what else I do out of habit??

Don't know where you shop but Tesc* have 4 pints of milk for £1 at the moment and remember milk can be frozen if that would help.

I quite fancy my own cow as well but I'm not sure how MSE it is :)

Good luck with your plans and look forward to hearing how you get on xx
