Hello
I am new here.
I am posting on behalf on my mom and dad who are trying to cancel a cruise they only booked I think last month with Planet Cruises for next May 12.
My dad has said that the flights are going to be too long due to his bad legs and heart.
The put a deposit of £900 and they are saying the will lose it all?

can anyone help me, I don't know what to do to help them.
I cannot post a link as i am new but planet cruises and in there the terms and conditions state losing £125 per person

Is there a suitable alternative by them with shorter flights?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I suspect the £900 was the cost of the long haul flights that will have been bought specifically for your parents. As such they are almost certainly 100% non refundable, this should have been explained at the time of booking. Regretably no insurance company will pay out for a disinclination to travel, so unless someone else can pull a rabbit out of a hat, I am not sure there is any good news here.0

where is the cruise from ? and to where?0

If you write to Planet Cruise perhaps enclosing medical evidence then they may be prepared to change the cruise to one which departs from the UK or "no fly cruises" as they are known.
Planet Cruise sell all the cruiselines which can depart from Southampton, Dover, Harwich etc. It is worth a try.0 -

Planet Cruise sells holidays which "are bound by the relevant cruise lines &/or tour operators terms and conditions" and on top of that Planet Cruise themselves charge £125 cancellation charge. If loops81 can get hold of brochures for the relevant flight operators and cruise lines which Planet Cruise has used for this tour, he or she might be able to check what other cancellation charges have been made. The small print at the back of the brochures should help with this, or go to the relevant firms' website and look hard for the "Terms and Conditions" page. There's still almost 9 months to go until the holiday. The sooner you do something, the better. Your father's GP might be able to write a letter stating he is too unwell for the trip, which would, I think, solve the problem if they have insurance. Have they taken out holiday insurance for the trip, or do they have travel insurance as a perk with their bank accounts?
If they have no insurance yet, then this won't cheer you up (from ABTA's website):
"I have to cancel my travel arrangements, but I didn’t have time to take out insurance. Can I get a refund?
No. It’s down to the individual to buy appropriate insurance at the time of booking, to ensure that their money is protected should they have to cancel their travel arrangements."0 -
Didn't they know where the cruise was leaving from and it would therefore be a long flight?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
