What a swiz then, i'm a sucker for a good advert
. It all gets a bit confusing as i thought rice and barley was good.
I have been previously using a hypoallergenic one with higher meat content min 26% and only rice in it but she won't eat it unless desperate and just leaves it all the time and when we ran out i looked for alternatives at a reasonable cost.
I used to use Burns as well but again she didn't like that either and it made her coat was really flaky and her poos really dry on but had no probs with her coat/poo since changing foods...now she just won't eat it
Gonna take it back to asda then, i'll have a look at skinners as i do want good food for her.0 -

I ordered sensitive for mine because it was salmon. They enjoy it and look fine.
Code valid until Dec 31st

Or just but CSJ Champ for £10.75 for 15 kg. Then you dont have to wait for deals as its always a good price,
No additives high quality food. They keep the prices down by not having large advertising budgets and as it is counted as working dog food they do not have to pay VAT on manufacture. If you contact them they will happily send out sample

I use Burgess; their specialist greyhound and lurcher food costs me £17 as opposed to £30+ in other brands. They do loads of others though.
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
We feed our two Jacks on Barking Heads http://www.barkingheads.co.uk/ - started them on puppy days and now they are 14 months we mix two of the adult varieties up to keep them interested - works well for them - 6kg bags are around £22 each - but we mix a bit of Bad Hair Day with Tender loving Care - each contain a minimum of 52% meat - are made in the UK too
Bad Hair Day :

Would never touch Wagg, Bakers or anything like that, annoys me when people walk round with it in the trolley at the supermarket lol0 -

Well we are all entitled to our opinions! Wagg is very basic and the people on their trade stand are always very helpful. I have used it for years before it appeared in the supermarkets. Bakers- no I wouldn't touch it either but it certainly doesn't annoy me after all it is a free country.
I wouldn't be paying £22 for a 6 kilo bag of food either- but that is entirely your choice.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Indeed we are and Im glad I didn't get shot for having one
The 12kg worth lasts over a month - so £40 to feed two animals (both of whom are more loved by the other half than she loves me) for us works - each to their own, you're right.
Supermarket dog food shoppers annoy me becuase there is better out there for the same sort of money - people skimp for convinience toomuch when it comes to pets, for me, thats the bit that annoys me...if they were any good the independents would sell it...right?0 -
What has to be considered is not price per bag or per kilo but how much of each brand needs to be fed to dogs - only then you get the true picture of the actual, REAL cost to feed each brand.
One may be very cheap per kg/per bag as you need to feed more of it per meal - the real cost is not that cheap really.
Did not check other feeding guides but with Origen I feed Zara 275 gram per day (she is 35kg) and I know some brands I have seen before (cheaper per bag) had recommendations of around 500g per day for the same size dog.
So sometimes, buying the cheaper food (cheaper per bag/kg) is a false economy really.0 -
A very big thank you to everyone who has posted on this thread so far. We haven't all agreed (well that would be unusual!!) but thank you for suggestions- makes I have come across but not actually used, and websites which I shall certainly be using in the future.
Until the last couple of years I was a regular at Crufts & Discover Dogs so saw and met a lot of manufacturers and of course saw the food. As I had a hound with me who would eat anything and frequently stole food off the stands!!(much to the amusement of everyone but her owner) it was a chance to see what is available and I miss that. Please tell my new hound that she needs to qualify for charity work so that we can go again!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

RE:Burgess Supadog
They say it is specially formulated for greygounds and whippets- on this page
http://www.burgesspetcare.co.uk/products/supadog/burgess-supadog-greyhound-and-lurcher.html
They launched it a couple of years ago and then for each bag sold they made a donation to a greyhound rescue. I don't know if that is still the case. On their home page there is a 50pence coupon to download.
If you contact them ( I have done it by phone) they are always very helpfulBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
