I should hope so! Even £6 or £7 is bad enough, but I'd never pay £17!

Sorry, yes I meant £7 delivery. So if you got one of the uber cheap ones for £10-£11, unless you have a local stockist, you'll end up spending £17 to get it to your door. If you go with one of the better, more expensive foods, it obviously goes up. By then you're paying out the same as it would cost you to get a much better food with free delivery.

He's crossed with a black lab, first cross, front end looks like a lab, back end like the whippet, and he runs like one too, as many poor deceased rabbits have found to their cost:(

I wouldn't want light food for him though.

See if I was to give my grey something higher in protein he'd pack weight on like nobody's business because he's not a hugely active dog. It's each to their own really, we all get to know what works with our own dogs and what doesn't

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

That's the thing really. My dogs have been fine on Hill's Science Plan, except for the occasional loose bowels episode, and I was happy with it even though it's expensive.

Then I looked at the dog food analysis link on here and was surprised to see it's rated a 1 star food.

If I'm going to be paying £36 for 12 kilo I reckon I could do better than 1 star food so I'm looking for better quality, but I suppose it's what suits the individual dog that counts.

Protein making your dog hyper or not very much depends on where the protein comes from.

Cereals, rice, wheat, grain etc being the source of the protein will absolutely make the dog mental and hyper.

If it comes from meat, the dog will digest it correctly and not convert it to glucose. And so it wont become hyper.

Orijen has 40% protein, yes a dog on that will be calmer than a dog on a 20% protein food depending on where the protein comes from.

Look at raw fed dogs, all meat, lots of protein, nice calm dogs. Because it's digested as it should be.

Can you explain how a dog can convert protein from one source to glucose and not another, it's more likely converting the starch in the grains to glucose?

Genuinely interested not stirring it. We are getting a rescue greyhound soon and hope to avoid mistakes.

I know this is an old thread but wanted to reignite it as the voucher code has a month left to run (and I'm just stocking up). Have been using this food for the last few months with my labmaraner as he is looking fabulous on it (light & sensitive) - coat is very shiny, better than on James Wellbeloved. Have just bought a new puppy and am about to start him on their puppy food...absolute bargain.

I eventually switched to CSJK9 food for my dogs and I'm really pleased with the results. It's completely sorted out the sloppy poos...my female dog Lucy was horrendous with her poos, no way could you pick them up.

Now all poos are firm and easy to pick up and the dogs are both bouncing with energy. Lucy's nearly 9, weighs 40kg, and was starting to struggle with her joints...that's all stopped too.

And it's only £12.05 for a 15kg sack! You do have to pay for delivery but I get 2 15kg sacks delivered for £30. I can highly recommend it.
