I buy my Wagg at Tesco and I think it is cheaper than that. I usually feed half Wagg and half a more expensive variety- until lately Burns Alert. But the Whites is a good deal - and no, I am not getting extra discount from them!!!

20% protein is pretty high, much more than that and you have hyper dogs! If you are working your dogs such as gun dogs or using them for agility then you might have up to 25% protein. I've just looked at CSJ website and their 'Hike On' for sled dogs is 30%. They say the food with 36% chicken is natural rocket fuel!
I assume your dog is a pet- 40% is incredibly high.I try to get about 18%- that's fine for my dogs

CSJ is good food- no advertising, that's why it tends to be people on the agility circuit who know about it- advertsing by word of mouth

Protein making your dog hyper or not very much depends on where the protein comes from.

Cereals, rice, wheat, grain etc being the source of the protein will absolutely make the dog mental and hyper.

If it comes from meat, the dog will digest it correctly and not convert it to glucose. And so it wont become hyper.

Orijen has 40% protein, yes a dog on that will be calmer than a dog on a 20% protein food depending on where the protein comes from.

Look at raw fed dogs, all meat, lots of protein, nice calm dogs. Because it's digested as it should be.

    There's a reason it's only £15

    Ingredients
Cereals, Meat and Animal Derivatives (min 14% beef and 4% lamb), Oils and Fats, Vegetables (min 4%), with EC permitted antioxidants: mixed tocopherols, vitamin C and rosemary extract.

Some nice beaks and bum holes flavouring the cereals. No idea what cereal, they don't list, so it'll just be the cheapest at the time of production.

    Whites ingredients
Lamb (26%),Rice (26%),Barley, Poultry fat, Sugar beet pulp, Brewers yeast, Yucca extract, Minerals, Vitamins,Omega 3

No amazing, but head and shoulders above gusto.

IMHO, no matter what offers come up. If your pocket allows, stick to orijen, if it suits your dog, it's by far the best kibble available. By far.
