    As much as I’d like to think that my children were whiter than white it would be a lie....we gave our youngest 10 driving lessons for his 18th, a week later I found out that he’d stolen £40 from my purse…the driving lessons were cancelled and never reinstated. He eventually saved up for driving lessons and passed his test when he was 20…..lesson learnt....I hope!!

    I think it's dangerous to generalise on other peoples parenting skills...I have four children, they have the same parents, have lived in the same house with the same set of rules, eaten the same food, gone to the same schools and enjoyed the same level of support and guidance from their extended family...but have they grown up as clones of one another...no most certainly not!!! If the right foundation stones have been laid they will all graduate into adulthood eventually but with their own interpretation on life.....in my experience 18yr olds are dreadful creatures, but they do have this canny way of developing into the the most reasoned 22yr olds....keep the faith!! xx

    Only another two years to go then for me.....
    I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
    Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
    When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Wow OP your sons attitude stinks doesn't it. He wants all that for his birthday and yet is refusing to buy his mum a card because you try to talk to him and explain it isn't going to happen. If he wants to properly celebrate becoming a man he needs to become one first doesn't he hun. Give him a sharp kick up his harris and tell him to buck up his ideas is my advice.

    I realise this is approx 19 years to late for you, and 5 months to late for me actually too, but might just save some other poor souls from suffering as you are right now;

    In school have you noticed they all want to be different but they all look the same with the same in cool glasses on, the same clothes, the same phones, the same xboxes, the same laptops, the same attitude, my son had 15 of his mates round the other week (we were here also) for a pay per view boxing match and in my living room they all had the brown twist trousers on, with the same loafers on, the same glasses and the same haircuts, they all brought with them the same black nike over the shoulder school bag and got the same amount of money each to put towards their pizza they were going to order, different, they all want to be the same:D

    no they dont. some do. a small minority. not all. when you understand that then youll see how silly you sound.
