What's the secret?
All my diesels (and older cars) get oil changes every 5000 miles or annually, whichever is first.
Petrols are every 10,000 or annually.
Semi synthetic, or 20/50 classic oil.
Anyone never bother, or much the same?
Oil change every 25k whether it needs it or not:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
But seriousley an oil and filter change every 6k/annually, and always the cheapest correct spec full synthetic that the car will take, both petrol and diesel;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Same here. I always ignore "service computers" and work off of mileage once a car's got over the 100,000 mark.
Fully-synthetic oil (ASDA do some adequate ones in their "own brand" range), good quality filter every 7,500 miles (twice as often as manufacturer recommended). I also change coolant, brake fluid and gearbox/rear axle oils every 2 years, regardless.
New fluids and filters are ALWAYS much cheaper than an early replacement engine or gearbox!0 -
This came up at work earlier this week so I checked mine, 1999 Golf diesel which is on 203k. Won hands down at work but pretty average for this thread. Partner had a Volvo S40 (petrol/LPG) that was on 250k when the auto box bit the dust.
Partner says the highest mileage is a Volvo P1800 in the US that's done 2.9 million miles. We used to have one of those too but we can't remember what it had done.0 -
My 1995 Lexus LS400 has just turned 155,000 and my diesel Yaris has 87000.
I want to run the wheels off both which is hopefully 200,000+ in both0 -
Volvo 940 estate in the local free paper for sale with 221,000 miles on the clock.0
