175,500 miles on a 1997 BMW 328i estate. Should crack 176k miles next month.
Everything works. Literally everything. Air con, electrics, everything.

I used to get a lift occasionally in a 406 diesel taxi with 350k miles, I think that's the highest I've seen first hand.

2008 Mitsubishi Shogun. 115k on the clock. Steady 70mph returns only 24mpg, I think it has its own refinery.

Not mine, but I went in a taxi in Portugal (old Merc about 20 years old) which had 970,000KM's on the clock, which works out at over 600,000 miles.

No idea if it was still the same engine, or even if the clocks were correct but it was well worn out inside. It would never had still been legal to use a taxi in the UK.

I got up to 133000 miles on a Nova many years ago
Previous car was a Viva and that got up to around 127000 miles as I recall
Currently on an Astra and have done just short of 170000 on it.

I reckon it also depends on how they were used.
All mine spent a lot of time on motorways at a steady 60mph for a couple of hours at a time, so little stop/start/city driving type motoring.
I used to get some very long tyre mileages on them.
The rear tyres on the Astra were Michelins fitted initially on the car - they did 100000 miles - just!
  • 220,000 miles on a Lexus LS400 - bought it a year ago for £900, needed new rear spings for MOT, £300. Apart from that nothing has broken and I enjoy wafting about in a 4 litre automatic. Guy servicing it refused to believe the mileage. Petrol costs can be a bit of shock though
Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%
