My dad bought an Opel Commadore brand new in 1983, since it was a couple of years old he did all the work on it himself. When he finally scrapped it in 1998 it had 300000 miles on it.
  • 105,000 in a 2000 W-reg Micra. Sold it in 2009. Although not all my mileage.
  • 73,000 on an M reg 1995 Vauxhall Corsa, only got it last year and done 10k in it.

Citroen XM 2.1SED is at 182,000 now.

Can't say it's immaculate, and the aircon stopped working a few years ago (rotted condenser), but it's done me well for taking the kids to school, shopping, and family camping trips when it is loaded to the rafters. Gets used every day, mainly for short trips. Cost me £100 5 years ago, and I reckon I should be able to sell it for more than that :)
  • I had a 57’ plate Audi A4 with 107,000 miles on it, my dad’s ex company car that I bought at the end of the lease, it was immaculate inside and ran like brand new....until some lovely people broke in my house while I was sleeping and stole that along with my dads new company car, a 6 month old Merc C class.

With my insurance pay out, I have now bought an 08 plate latest shape A4, and that has 97,000 on it, again ex lease car so I know it will have been looked after, so had no quarms about that kind of mileage, and immaculate inside and out, apart from a few unavoidable stone chips on the bonnet, which are to expected when the car has spent it’s whole life on the motorway.
  • In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the city taxis are strictly regulated and operated by a small number of firms who employ drivers from India and elsewhere. Its two drivers sharing a car operating it 24/7 in 12 hour shifts. The cars are usually Toyota Corrolas and apart from the drivers prayer time or for maintenance, the cars are driven continuously around the city streets regardless whether it has passengers.

A driver told me the taxis are operated for three years before it is taken out of service and does about 800/900K miles in that time. The highest mileage Ive personally seen was a Dubai taxi with about about 760K miles, and it was still a very clean smart car.

    Coupe 1- 140,000
    Coupe 2- 76,000 Both 1.8DOHC's- Proton's.

    2.0L V6 Proton- somewhere around 80ish?

Best I ever got was my Ford Escort Encore at 211.... By the time she died the body was badly, badly going, and electrics had pretty much died- but the engine kept going!

Most of ours would easily hit over 150ish before any problems.

    02 Xsara (diesel) - 165,000
    2x Rover 200s (diesels) - 143,000 & 90,000 respectively

I've had 2 good-uns in my time. Many years ago I ran an Audi 80 which had done 170k before the clutch went ( yes, original clutch as well ! ), at which point I decided it was time to treat myself to a newer model.

Then I had a Rover 416 ( stands back and awaits the guffaws of derision from all the Rover-haters out there ). That had done 125K when I sold it to a friend, she put another 10K on it before some bottom-dwelling scum decided to take it out for a joy-ride. She was gutted as she said it had been perfect since the day I sold it to her, never missed a beat.
