Lol... you've just reminded me of when I was in a share house at Uni. For some reason the walls had been painted a hideous apricot colour, but you know what rented shared houses are like, you just deal with it!
Well one day my friend and I got all enthusiastic cooking pumpkin soup. But pumpkin soup 'splodges' if you leave it to boil without stirring, and this pumpkin soup 'splodged' itself all the way to the white ceiling before we caught it.
Being uni students we didn't do anything about cleaning off the apricot coloured splodge for several months, until we had a random spring cleaning fit. So my housemate climbs up on a chair and rubs at the yellow splodge... it doesn't come off... she scrubs and she scrubs some more, but if anything it looks like it's growing!
Finally she realised that at one point the ceiling had been painted the same apricot colour as the walls, and that all she was doing was scrubbing off the white ceiling paint to reveal the colour beneath

Hi PBR, just wanted to say hi as i stumbled across your diary
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident with the carrot soup!
I have the same situation as you with my mortgage - i can only overpay by £500 or more which isn't great for my patience level:D

:rotfl:Brilliant!
I am very familiar with that particular shade of apricot thanks to living in shared houses too. And also "avocado" in the bathroom! Loving that there is someone out there who also does these things with their soup!
Just posted on your thread about the leak coming from your upstairs neighbour - wonder if they'll come round to repair the damage with a tin of apricot coloured paint? :rotfl:Overpay!0 -

Thanks for reading and for subscribing - will have a look for your diary too!
I'm so pleased I'm not the only person who gets impatient about waiting for a £500 amount to overpay! I read all these lovely diaries on here by people who can watch their balances reducing when they sell something on ebay and automatically sock it to the mortgage. It must be so pleasing to see your efforts pay off bit by bit.
Mine are a real slow burn and a mixture of elation and panic - having made an OP, will I now make it to the end of the month? Will I have to admit to DH that I shouldn't have done it and could he lend me a tenner?! :rotfl:Which kidney should I list on ebay?Overpay!0 -

That's very good advice! How well you know me! :rotfl:I suggested to my DH that if the baby is a girl, we should call her "Patience" as it's a trait she's unlikely to inherit!
Thanks for popping by and good luck to you too!Overpay!0 -

have sold some more bits and bobs on ebay with some sellers collecting tonight.
I've also had lunch paid for by work and clients every day this week - let's see if I can it five for five!
Got a car seat given to me by a friend. Think we have everything bar the pushchair and cot now!
Curry for dinner made from leftovers..

collected a friend from the airport and since they don't let you collect from outside, this cost me a tenner.
I'm going to drive to yoga tonight as it's raining and dark....Overpay!0 -
Just got paid today so have overpaid (or "overpayed" as MSErs seem to spell it - ??) an extra £500 - the last one for a while! I'll be quitting work fairly soon so we're relying on DH's salary and anything I can list on eBay!
Hopefully aiming for another OP around Easter!
That doesn't mean I won't continue to prattle on about complete nonsense on this thread though!Overpay!0 -

Hi Sepa :j
I'm not going anywhere! I think I'll be on this thread paying off my mortgage well until my 60s!
In the last few days, I've just rediscovered the magic of selling household items through the local paper which has so far attracted a 100% selling rate and a much easier collection and payment system than that auction site!
So today, I've just listed a really nice waterproof jacket that I've only worn a couple of times and a bookshelf that's collecting dust. Hopefully they'll sell as quickly as the previous items!
I've now finished work and have been treated to lunch every day in my final week by lovely clients and colleagues. Not sure what I am going to be doing with myself between now and the birth but am having a clearout and trying to get everything ready! Have so far resisted the draw of daytime TV!
Now please shout at me if you sense from my thread that I am going to spend any money! I have signed up for the 2012 Frugal Living challenge and pledge not to spend anything I don't have to!Overpay!0
