Congratulations PBR! That's wonderful news and I wish you all possible luck with the new arrival. Mine will now arrived by planned C section on 24th Jan so not long to go now.
Wonderful resolutions as well - lots of luck and best wishes.
Hi Mouche
thanks for swinging by! Hope you are keeping well and how nice to know when you will be meeting your little one! I thought you were due before me for some reason - I do hope that now my baby is here that I will get my brain back!
Are you enjoying India? You're not missing much here - weather is grim and the news is not too cheerful. Hope you're relaxing and being looked after. Will be thinking of you between now and the 24th - you never know if the little one might appear before then!
Take good care pbr xxxOverpay!0 -
congratulations PBR. what a lovley christmas present for you. And a little boy how lovely (I am lucky to have one of each so can tell you how lovely having a boy is - and a girl too
) How was the birth?? hope it wasn't too bad for you?
mouche I have completely blanked. Are you having your C section in India? If so will your hubby be there with you??
Thanks Starnac! The birth went well and the painful bit was over in less than half an hour- nothing exciting to report really! I am finding breast feeding far more painful but I guess it will get better with practice. I am being shamelessly :money:when I do it, gritting my teeth and thinking about how much cheaper it is than formula!
Thanks for posting and Happy New Year to the Starnac family!

if BF is painful then you need to check that he's latching on properly. it shouldn't be that painful. ask the health visitor to watch you feed if it's that bad and they can give you advice.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Hi PBR, starnac...thanks for remembering me!
PBR, you probably thought I was due before you because I went on mat leave so early. Due date was 3rd Feb - then was pushed back to 6th Feb and now they will do the C sec at just over 38 weeks as that's apparently hospital policy for planned Caesareans. I don't want to hog your diary so more details if you're interested will be on my diary. I've heard BF can be painful but I second starnac's suggestion of getting someone to check your latch. My pregnancy book also says you should keep at it for at least 6 weeks because it usually takes that long for mum and baby to figure out what they are doing. Good luck and love your MS approach to it!
starnac, yup am still in India and hubby will be flying out just before the operation to be with me. He's taking 3 weeks annual leave + 2 weeks paternity so will be with us for 5 weeks before he has to go back.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Thanks Mouche! It's getting better, but for some reason, I thought the baby would automatically know what to do! How naive! They don't! We're getting there and I'll report back in 6 weeks!
Good luck with the Caesarean!Overpay!0 -
glad it's getting better PBR. BF is such a lovely thing to do. I BF DD and loved it. She took to it so naturally and it was so easy. DS however was a different story. I thought it would be as easy as it was with DD oh how I was wrong!!! He has a tongue tie which made it difficult for him to latch on properly and it was so painful. I BF him for about a week crying everytime I fed him cos it hurt so much then fed him expressed milk in a bottle for about another week til my milk dried up from not being stimulated by a baby only artificially
Hope you and baby are settling in now. How much did he weigh?? What did you call him?? (If you want to share that is)Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

HI Starnac - thanks for the BF advice! I'm still doing it but think you're right that expressing some milk is a good idea to give myself a chance to recover! Sorry to hear about the tongue tie - has that been fixed?
The baby was 9lb and is getting bigger very quickly, so I know that he is being fed ok, even if, like you, I want to cry when I know he's hungry!
In other MSE news, my long run of no spend days ended today when I took DS out and ended up sheltering from the wind and rain in a cafe so an unnecessary £4 wasted there but never mind.
Our giant declutter continues so a big bag of things went off to the charity shop hopefully counting as MSE as it makes our house run more efficiently and so we're less likely to buy two of everything when we can see what we have!Overpay!0 -

Apparently it will stretch and make it easier for him. We try to encourage him to "talk" and poke his tongue out etc to exercise it. If it had been a bit further forward he would have had to have it cut.

My health visitor suggested giving myself a 24hour break from feeding just expressing as I was bleeding. That certainly helped as it was a bit easier after the break. He just found it easier to take my milk from a bottle as he didn't have to suck as hard to get it. Stick at it if you can, maybe try expressing and giving yourself a bit of a break. Hubby can do a bit of feeding that way tooGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

It's getting better! He doesn't half drink a lot though!
In MSE news, I've listed 10 things on eBay - that's as much as I can do without getting bored. I've listed most of it for pick up only as unfortunately, a buyer says they didn't receive the parcel I sent before Christmas. I feel that they're either trying it on or it will arrive this week, but have had to issue a refund which is annoying. I guess I'll try to claim it back, but what a faff.Overpay!0
