Did anyone see the programme last night about getting rich?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b017xgn6/Money_Who_Wants_to_be_a_Millionaire/
Definitely some food for thought there with the passive incomes, but perhaps not so much with the affirmations (although maybe that's where I'm going wrong - I don't think I've ever leapt about my living room and told myself that I am an excellent money manager or that I have a millionaire mind!)
I definitely proved that I don't have a mind of any sort at the moment. My family has been extremely generous and a couple of relatives sent me a decent amount of cash so that I could buy the last few baby things that I need. I decided to put all of this money in my bank account so that I can just transfer it over to an account that I plan to open for the baby when it arrives. By that point, it will already be much better off than I am!
I rocked up at the bank and could not find the envelope anywhere, so retraced my steps, eyes firmly on the ground and inwardly panicking. As any pregnant woman will tell you, my mind had failed me and the envelope was sitting on my dining room table when I got home. What a relief!
Right, just listing some more eBay items and making soup from leftover veg and that's hopefully a NSD for me - the first of many! Think I'll avoid the bank until I can be trusted to safely put an envelope in my handbag without any drama!Overpay!0 -
Just got a letter from our mortgage provider to update our total for the year and it looks like we've just ducked under quite a significant milestone! I won't say what it is because we still owe loads but even DH is all fired up by this!
Went into town to post some eBay items and stock up on toiletries for the next few months so I don't have to go shopping with a newborn and paid for all of it with Boots points so a very low spend today at PBR Towers!
Am going to make some mince pies as pressies so that should keep me out of trouble for the afternoon!Overpay!0 -
PBR both my children (DD is 4 and DS is a lovely 3weeks) have more money in saving accounts than I do. They also have investments which have been bought for them by relatives. Hopefully by the time they are adults they will have a decent start in life financially.

HI Starnac!
Hope you are feeling well and enjoying getting to know your new little one!
That's really lovely that relatives have given both of your children help to get them started financially - hopefully our little one should get off to a good start too (although I timed it badly in terms of the Child Trust Fund having now gone!).
I can't believe how well I have taken to doing nothing! I've been keeping busy by listing anything that doesn't move onto ebay and doing endless loads of washing - I think the baby will be here before the current load dries!
Thanks for popping by and congratulations on Baby Starnac once again :TOverpay!0 -
Thanks PBR. With regards to the Child Trust Fund, I have one child with one and one without. Not sure how I will manage that one in the future. I did look into the Junior ISA's but I'd still have to find the £250 the government gave me for DD's child trust fund to even it out. Such a minefield!

That's a nice problem to have!!
I'm due any time in the next couple of weeks - but think that it will be soon.
Hoping to laze around for the rest of the evening so that I manage a NSD today which will be my 5th this month. Making a dinner for DH out of leftovers and resisting the lure of the late night shopping evening in town tonight!Overpay!0 -

Thanks Starnac!
I'm finding plenty of things to do; laundry, washing up, rearranging furniture, re-working the budget, going out for a loaf of bread or milk "as it will be my last opportunity to head out", and most importantly reading nice birth stories...(just nice ones!)
Will keep you posted!Overpay!0 -

:rotfl::rotfl: is there such a thing???
I was told "remember that each contraction is a step closer to meeting your beautiful baby" In reality each contraction just makes you want to scream "get this baby out NOW!" :rotfl:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

I'll pretend I didn't see that :rotfl:
Still no sign of the baby, so I've been listing on eBay without stopping to think exactly about how I'm going to get everything to the post office. Most of the items are quite big, so I've indicated pick up only, but I have had already made three separate visits to the post office today as I keep thinking it will be my last opportunity for a bit! I took some books with me to pass the time in the queue as I thought it would be made busy, but I walked straight in and up to the counter!
I've also had time to enter lots of competitions and have won one that appeared in our local paper, so that's a lovely Christmas present for DH's Secret Santa sorted. It's worth more than the stipulated £10, but the recipient should love it (if she doesn't read the paper too closely!)
And all this growing and getting fat means ANOTHER quiet night in tonight. I am saving a fortune by not having any Christmas drinks! :beer:Overpay!0
