I've had loads from them as well, I'm deleting them also
  • Just saw an advert on Facebook for Ziinga. I was immediately struck by the strong smell of brown stuff.

    Two basic rules:
    1. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
    2. Don't give your card details to strangers.

  • I was conned (fell for a seriously misleading website) by a site called Ziinga.com, an online penny auction site. I was led there by an email I received from freestuffsearch.co.uk. I was under the impression that I had been given free bids, when I placed a bid I won a mobile phone for £3.81, I continued on to pay by credit card only to discover that they had signed me up for a platinum subscription at a cost of £59.99 monthly which I don't want. I immediately contacted them within about 10/15 minutes to cancel this. They at first refused to let me cancel saying I was bound to a 3 month minimum contract, then they offered me a voluntary cancellation at a fee of £28.00. However when I received the cancellation email, the cancellation date is not in fact todays date but a date at the end of May. On checking on forums and google (admittedly I wish I had done this first) I find that there has been many customers who have been misled or conned in this way and have had further problems with their identity being stolen and fraudulent charges to their credit card). I have contacted my bank and cancelled my card (though still will be charged the £28.00), but would like to lodge an official complaint to somehow try and prevent this from happening to others. Trading Standards etc don't seem able to help as the "catch" was in the small print in the T & C's. Is there anywhere official to report these rogues?
  • Just like you, I have been conned by this very misleading website. I followed a link from offeroasis.com and now I am out of pocket to the tune of £150! Total scam. There must be an offical body out there somewhere who can help us get our money back?

  • If you Google "Is Zinga a scam" you will find plenty of sites that tell you it is!
They say they give you a free bid, so you win something at a very low price. You then give your credit card details, to pay.
Even if you read the terms and conditions, it says you have a Free Gold membership trial of 7 days.
Then they ask you to sign a form which allows them unlimited drawing rights on your credit card, photo copies of your card and driving license or passport and copy of recent bill. (Getting suspicious??)
If you want to end the "Free trial" they tell you there's a £28 cancellation fee.
I'm pretty sure all this is illegal under distance selling, reasonable terms, etc regulations. Trouble is you can't stop Credit card transactions. You can dispute them ,but it's all a lot of effort.
  • I Joined ZIINGA last year just before christmas and i had to enter bank details for 'credits' to use and win again on the site. I won some credits and i bid on an IPOD for my hubby which would've great as xmas pressie. I told my hubby but we noticed we didn't win the ipod in the end we won credits to spend on more bids. While this was happening i noticed later in a bakn statement that ZIINGA have been taking £1 and also £33.50 that month. I decided to email the ziinga people - no reply, so i phoned and said i would like to cancel my profile and account etc they said i should write a letter to them but she never gave me address to close the account on ZIINGA. I went onto ziinga and saw a 'cancel account' area so clicked that. Next mnoth i still find I've been charged the £33, and ev month up to now. I spoke with my bank and they agree it's not a very good auction site at all and yes it should be banned. At the moment i can only ask my bank to refund my money and cancel any further transactions with ZIINGA. I SERIOUSLY ADVISE ANYONE TEMPTED TO JOIN ZIINGA--- Whatever you do, no matter how much u fancy that ipod or how great it sounds, ooh look £2.00 for a flatscreen tv!!??:::::: '''D O N ' T !!!!!!! ''' ZIINGA is not the only dud site making it all look inviting and shockingly unbelievable at all th wonderful things u could WIN. NO ONE ACTUALLY WINS ANYTHING!!!! If you have, and i am wrong then please tell me your fab story and i'd like to see your receipt / proof!!!!!
and if u work for ziinga or support it in any way then please let us know - why?
Also, cancellation fees vary and so that's why I've asked my bank to do ther job too - look after my money and cancel them from my account and being able to access it. ZIINGA are good to try all ther means to get yor dosh. no matter what u do be careful.

you: it says I have won an i pod, but i did not bid on any auction
    you: how does that work
David: that is our recent promo
David: we had an auto bid for all the previous visitor of the website
you: what do I have to do to get the I pod?
David: just read everything and complete all the info needed
you: do i need to pay anything? Is this a scam and how many other "winners" are there
you: It just asks for my name and address
David: name and address are just the beginning of the verfication
    you: then?
you: do i have to pay an "admin" fee?
David: just a minimum fee for shipping
    you: of how much
David: proceed and complete the window to proceed on the next step and you will be provided on how much you need to pay

Sorry to say that I have read that near exact same thing (nearly word-for-word) by a different user asking about a similar email/site... can't remember what is was, but do remember that last paragraph!!

I love this part of their T&C's

    Overdue Balance / Chargeback
Customers of Ziinga.com who have an overdue balance or owe the website money in charges for items, membership or other fees must settle the debt in a timely manner or risk having their case handed over to a debt collector. In the event that a debt collector is involved, the overdue balance must be settled directly with the debt collector.

Accounts that do not settle overdue balances or unduly chargebacks within the allotted time, whereby allotted time is determined on a case-to-case basis, may be blacklisted and may also incur further fees. Any and all fees will be paid by the member. A fee of £ 449.00 will apply per unduly chargeback.
