look at this as a learning curve for next time or if your friends get a simular one you will be aware its a scam, lucky you checked before paying them anything.0 -
I use WOT (web of trust) as a plugin using firefox it gives a poor reputation warning for the link you posted. Trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy and child safety of very poor. Here is a link to feedback from users of WOT which is an excellent add on for firefox to help filter out dodgy sites

I have used this site before so when I received the e-mail I knew that it wasn't from a "dodgy" website...
When you get to the stage where you've entered your name and address the next step asks you to pay £1 which is displayed as a transaction fee.
Beneath that section it states the following in small print:
* Included with this payment, you will receive a Platinum membership. The first 7 days are for free. After the trial expires, normal monthly charges of £ 59.99 will apply. The membership is only binding for 3 months.
so, I also used chat and got he following responses (i've removed the Live assistants ID).
Please wait for a site operator to respond.

*******: Welcome to Ziinga! How can I help you?
you: Hi, for the ipod shuffle promotion, can you please clarify that this statement shown on the payment screen means if i cancel at the end of the trial period I do not incur the minimum 3 month membership fee:* Included with this payment, you will receive a Platinum membership. The first 7 days are for free. After the trial expires, normal monthly charges of £ 59.99 will apply. The membership is only binding for 3 months.
*******: yes
*******: if you want to get the ipod
*******: you need to submit the documents needed
*******: you need to pay the price indicated on the email
*******: after purchasing, it will come with 7 day free trial
you: documents? I haven't got that far yetso it isn't just the £1 transaction fee then
*******: now, you have an option to cancel within the 7 day period if you dont want to subscribe
*******: if you weren't able to cancel in 7 days trial
*******: you would be bind on 3 months subscription
*******: yes
*******: please read through the terms and conditions
you: ok I will, thanks for the advice
*******: Is there anything else I can help you with?
you: no thank you, have a good evening
I read the terms and conditions and from what I can see, this isn't a con (although i never got as far as putting in my payment details and receiving an e-mail) but if you don't cancel the premium subscription within 7 days it means your free ipod shuffle just cost you a minimum of £181...
I should also point out that you may decide you actually have a need for premium ziinga account in which case, you get an ipod...woohoo.... not for me though.

I'll still give it a miss :-)0 -
It is more of a rip off than a scam. They ask you to send your bank details, ID and address before they send you the iPod. I apparently signed up to it for three months after trying to get them to send me the iPod, now I am iPod-less and 120 quid out of pocket and another 60 is coming out next month coz there is a three month clause in the T&Cs. I asked them for a refund since I haven't used the site but apparently I have took advantage of their privilages (Which I know 100% sure, I haven't)
Reason for looking here was to find out if I could claim the money back some how, could this be possible or have I just been totally ripped off?0 -
Sorry to hear of your problems.Did you use a Credit card.If so you may be able to make a claim as the consumer rights are greater on CC's.0

It looks like a scam to me, they want your name and address to go wtih other details of you they already have. Are you sure you haven't been hacked or picked up a malicious software?I didn't ask to be born!0
