A FROG a week equals a special treat!

FW: Sorry to hear about your grandad, but look on the positive side, would you ever have got all those things done if he'd not ever been coming? My Gran used to say, 'nothing cleans a house like company coming.'
Squishing frogs is one thing, but what do you do when they keep resurrecting themselves?
Three times this week I have cleared half the dining room, (the same half!) and you still can't see across the room. Next time I do it I am going to lock the door and swallow the key! The proliferation of black bin bags is unbelievable.
I think my next frog is Christmas. I haven't even started yet!I believe that friends are quiet angels

Good morning everybody,
Thanks for the recent posts. After one productive day came a quieter day. Thursday, for instance, I tried to keep busy so opted to update four computer threads. They could be classed as two "tadpoles", one "froglet" and a "frog" if I consider how long/difficult it was to do these. The "reward" was just how much better it felt to at least achieve something. However, one poster sent such a lovely response and information to check that this has led to a "froglet". Much information therefore to read and learn that is largely new/complex to me.
Friday, in contrast, I got as far as the compost area with kitchen food waste and recycling which had been collecting; not wanting to go out in this weather. No "reward" other than decluttering. Anyway, today might be fine for a few hours so might call at a shop to complete a "froglet" task previously mentioned.0 -

Here you are petal :
1. Wash four unwaxed lemons and then pare the zest into thin strips.
2. Place in a large clean jar with 11/2 cups vodka. Seal jar tightly, and shake the contents frequently over the next two weeks. Mine is actually in our big flask cos we're soooo posh!
3. Squeeze the juice from the the four lemons and freeze (labelled!).
3. Mix 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water, heat together just enough to dissolve sugar. Leave until cold. Defrost the lemon juice and add to the cold sugar syrup. Strain the vodka from the lemon zest onto the syrup mixture, mix together well and then bottle.
Serve very cold in very small glasses.
(I adapted recipe from JamJarShop, cos they weren't very OS about the lemons!). As you can see, it's tres easy.. Hope you had fun with your housework x x

Hi, hope everybody is doing fine.
It took awhile before I went to the shop to buy a bulb. This was the final task to completing the sorting out the bike repair/accessory items ("froglet"). The "reward" is moneysaving.
This weather is difficult really to feel motivated. However, a "tadpole" was to dash in and out and prune a rose that I had left to flower. Glad that is done. Also, during a break from the rain, to see if the birds needed some food ("tadpole"). The "reward" was seeing the delightful gathering that eagerly had it.
Apart from the above, the winter "frog" is using time as best as possible due to the "bad" weather.0 -
Hi, just a couple of tasks completed -
Sorted out some plants and collected some seeds ("tadpoles"). It just felt good that I had actually done something away from "normal" everyday life. It does seem that everyday life has taken over again and other things are not being done. Yesterday, I was very disgruntled with myself so today overcame this by going out ("frog/"froglet") for a walk/errand to the scrapyard. "Reward" was £2 obtained towards some "free" groceries and it was better than I thought venturing out. Quite pretty the huge snowflakes.
Apart from the above, the previously mentioned purchased bulb has caused another "froglet" because attaching the cycle lamp bracket to the bike is difficult. Just one more new attempt might solve this.
Good luck with your tasks.0 -
Frog of the day squished...:j Had to do some 'city' shopping for the solstice meal (only available at a health food store) and i hate going into the city...have been putting it off for ages, but decided that it is no longer in my frog squishing psyche to do that!!!:rotfl: Feel a lot better for getting it out of the way, so had a brandy when I came home as my treat!!!:DMortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Well, Christmas is definitely going to happen. I have finished all my cards, or almost all. I have wrapped the presents to be posted, whether they will get there before Christmas I don't know, but I will post them tomorrow and cross my fingers.
The dining room has all but disappeared under bin bags full of stuff for our drop-in centre, and I've given up the unequal struggle to clear it. Cleared it will have to be though, we have two lots of visitors coming to stay after Christmas.
I am cooking two christmas meals on Christmas Day. One at lunchtime for the old and lonely and one in the evening for the homeless. So tomorrow I'll get a start by making a fruit cake - a bit late to be making a Christmas cake but I have been known to ice the cake on Christmas day afternoon. I'll also start on the 8 or 9 dozen mince pies that have to be produced. I can't in all honesty call this a frog because I love pottering about in the kitchen.
You are all doing so well. I am amazed at your industry.:beer:I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi folks,
Me too icontinuetodream, "I hate going into the city" and when I do soon, I'll make sure that I know exactly where to go with a very tiny shopping list. I think it is a "frog" for me but it is unimportant to me.
monnagran - Your Xmas activities are far busier than mine. I expect other thread posters here will be busy too; maybe some will see their tasks as "frogs?"
Might tackle a "tadpole" later which is checking a local shop for ideas towards one present I will be sending.0 -
Hi,
I did the "tadpole" task yesterday. The "reward" really was that this has simplified my Xmas shopping. Purchased one item and now have a better idea what else to make myself/obtain locally and hence minimise being part of the crowded bigger stores.:eek:0
