1.Check up at hospital. Not good news, it appears that I have two broken bones and not one as they told me six weeks ago, I also have something called chronic regional pain syndrome which is a result of the injuries, and the moonboot thing I have been staggering around on is no longer helping so I have to walk on my still broken foot using my crutches. A day where I felt like I was going more back than forward. Also the painkillers they gave me make me comatose in the day, and keep me awake at night. Have spent nearly £16 on this jolly combination  and have decided to grit my teeth and bear it and just take paracetemol, available at 16p in my local Aldi!

    OMG!!!! That sounds beyond awful!!:eek::eek::eek:

    Hello everybody,

Thanks for the recent posts and your comment monnagran. Since Saturday, I've been trying to complete a "froglet" task of mending a puncture. However, I have now accepted that I need to buy a new inner tube so the job is still pending. Also, still pending is a "frog" regarding some health tests results which should (hopefully) be discovered tomorrow. A "frog" today was sorting out or discarding a few saved bits from old diaries. The "reward" is that the nice diary covers are now being used as cup mats and also decluttering.

Football Widow - I have been thinking about your query about motivation. Initially, I joined your thread as I needed a structure/challenge. So what keeps me tackling the frogs? I think that my routine plays a part and a need to be organised with present health/future unknown health interlinked. I assume this is due to personality factors based upon my life experiences.

Nevertheless, regarding this thread, in trying to be reliable with my updates, this might also come across as being motivated? However, I have found this frog challenge difficult at times but yet essential; sometimes wondering if I have "done much today". Incidentally, somebody who knows me thinks the opposite (so this seems similar to what monnagran said to you). Anyway, that's really all I can think of in answer to your query. Good Luck.
  • Hi all

Thank you Dannie for your response to my request for help. I think having a routine is very beneficial. I used to be very motivated when I worked full time. Now that I am at home with a small part time job and a daughter and husband to look after I think I'm more inclined to be very much like monnagran. Also I find if I do a lot one day I then struggle the next. I am now beginning to accept that is how I am and that is how it needs to be. Today I started following the Flylady thread again to try and focus on the general day to day bits and today has been very successful along with tackling some of my frogs!!

My frog for today was to make chicken stock. My third attempt. The first one I decided was ok, but on consumption thought it too watery. The second lot got left on the stove for 2 days and was disposed of. This one has been simmered, strained and is now sitting in the fridge so that I can make some homemade soup tomorrow. The frog part was the dealing with the bones - I don't do bones -

Tomorrow I have some frogs that I have to finish.
Another coat of paint on 'the wall' and round the window.
Sort out recycling and take a trip to the dump - just so I keep on top of it.

Got round to phoning the DR - thanks to flylady so just got to get there now (I hate going as I really don't like my doctor!)

Good to catch up with everybody.

Rowsew so sorry to hear that you are still not back to good health. Well done for being so brave when you must be in so much pain.

Glad to hear that you are treating yourself icontiue. My reward to day was a nice glass of rose - not the flower!! Can't do the bit over the e.

monnagran I am glad I am not alone x

Anyway hope everyone has a good day tommorrow ... x

FW & Dannie: What's that quote about "to see ourselves as others see us"? Perhaps we are all a lot better than we think we are - wouldn't that be lovely?
I think we do quite a lot but sometimes it's an effort just to get through the things that have to be done immediately so we don't even think about doing anything that can be left until another time. That's how things get left and weigh on our conscience, and the longer it goes on the more we build up a resistance to doing it at all. Well, that's my half-baked theory.

Anyway, I caved in and phoned a gardener who is going to come and tidy up my garden for the winter. That is a huge weight off my mind if not my purse.
Let's try to stop beating ourselves up and just give ourselves a pat on the back for the things we do manage.
My big frog this week is to sort out my dining room which we don't use but dump all the things we don't know what to do with. This may take more than a week! Especially as it has to be done as well as the usual jobs.
    Good luck everyone.

    Good morning,

Thanks for the previous posts and comments. My "froglet" for today is an update :-

The puncture ("froglet") was eventually mended and the "reward" was that the inner tube was buy one get one free. Also, it was refreshing to awaken to a new day of this job done and went out to collect some bargain groceries which was also therapeutic.

The GP appointment regarding the medical tests ("frog") was completed. There were two parts to these tests and one was not completed properely due to their error. However, it would seem that there is an "improvement" and I could myself resolve the problem? That's the "reward" for me.

Two "tadpoles" also consisted of labelling the light switches and two internet jobs. "Reward" is less putting on the wrong light/minor electricity saving and the internet jobs are not lying on the floor now.

Football Widow - hope your Flylady thread is beneficial and monnagran, I did look up your quote regarding "self-image".
  • Frog this week was putting my eleccy reading in so I finally had my 'proper' bill...:eek::eek: really scary how much we use....must try to do better :o treat from that is that at least I know how much we are using and that my dd does cover it.....but only just :(

icontinuetodream oo sounds like you will be having a very interesting conversation not to mention an interesting 2012. It has to be done though doesn't it. We are in credit with our DDs but as Grandad is coming and the heating will be on all day, we haven't requested it back as it will probably be used up in the first month of his stay!

Anyway his room has been carpeted and vinyl put down. Just got to put the batons up for the curtains and get some curtain track. Oh yes and adjust the bottom of the door and re hang.

FROG - still need to paint the radiator

Hi Dannie I am glad you had some positive news from your tests. Sounds like you have been busy. I did very well with the flylady up until Wednesday. However the last couple of days have not been productive.

monnogran thanks for your post and well done for realising your limitations and getting that gardener in. How did you get on with the dining room, did you get it cleared?

DD and I are now going to decorate the front room with Christmas Decorations! Wish us well ... it could take us some time :eek:x
