Frog list made.....truly breathtaking in size!! However, reading this thread has inspired me and I am planning on getting on top of everything that I have been putting off for donkeys!!! :A
I am going to really work this month at squashing my frogs and getting into the habit of dealing with the tadpoles daily....watch this space for puddles!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Well, I think you've answered it yourself! It depresses you every time you open the door & see it, so wouldn't you like to be rid of that depressed feeling? Once you've got started, you'll feel good about tackling it. Decluttering clears my mind as well as my rooms, I always find and you might even find some stuff you can put on ebay, as well as enjoy giving some unwanted bits & bobs to charity shops. I took a bag of stuff in a couple of weeks ago & they nearly bit my hand off for it.....think more people must be using charity shops with the economy being in such a poor way & I enjoyed feeling I'd done a good turn. Just get some bin bags ready & start it. It's not climbing Everest is it?! Good Luck!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Hi icontinuetodream and welcome to the group ! It's definitely easier if you can try to do at least a tadpole every day as every little bit adds up. Have you classed your list into size of jobs and urgency? That helps me as I know what I have to do and what can wait a bit.
Bit behind as my coffee morning at school which started at 9.15 only finished at 11.25 [STRIKE]well by the time I finished gassing to the other mums[/STRIKE] as we covered a lot of important business! This afternoon I want to do some odds and ends and spend some nice time with DS as it's his last part time day today before he starts school full time on Monday. Also my bad back has come back so need to take it very easy today. So my list is:
* [STRIKE]take shoes to PO to send to lady who won them on ebay yesterday[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]sort out DS's books with him[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]start my knitting for my niece Emily[/STRIKE][STRIKE] :T (not a frog at all but felt I should add something to my list!)[/STRIKE] - can't do as the wool I ordered hasn't turned up yet, so will start unravelling skein for nephew's scarf instead
Have a good afternoon!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Yeah as the others said, just get stuck in. I'd get a coffee, a nice sandwich to look forward to half way through, open up the windows, get the radio on pretty loud and just get involved! You can even look at it as a bit of exercise and have a good dinner later, and you may even make some ££ at the end!0

I've gone at mine the other way.... every time I open the door it depresses me too. So I look for one smal thing I can do (put a bit of laundry away, or stack the books on a shelf, or throw an empty box into the recycling etc).
I've found that within a few minutes, I've realised that I could root through to find the other laundry bits, or put the books on ebay, or find more recycling etc, and am doing it in 30 minutes chunks, so it doesn't get overwhelming.
Today, I've booked a repairman for the window lock and bought thermal blackout curtains for the window. This is because I finally found the new net curtains I'd bought and realised I could get to the window to hang them up.
Baby steps for me - less stressful! Whatever you do, good luck xSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Pop onto the Flylady thread, and look at Dot-to-Dotting - you just clear one surface, or dot, and stop. Later, go and clear another little bit, and stop. Continue thus, til you've joined up all the dots, and hey presto, you have a tidy room. (It's explained much better on post #1 or post #2 on the Flylady thread, (I forget which, offhand) which is why I suggest going there).
You mention loads of boxes of stuff - could you grab a box, take it into a not-depressing room, and sort it? Say for instance grab a box of books, file them in their proper place in the bookcase, and get rid of the box.
Join us on Flylady for a Half-Hour Challenge - that is, set the timer on your cooker or mobile phone for a half hour, and see how much you can get sorted in that time. At the end of the half-hour, stop, have a cuppa and pat yourself on the back for all you've achieved. Often, if you post that you're about to do a HHC as we call it, someone else will join in - you'd be surprised how motivating it is knowing someone else is sorting their stuff/doing their ironing/whatever along with you!:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
If you're anything like me you'll hate the thought of doing it, but you'll really enjoy it when you get going. Just think of the relief once you've sorted it! I dread the general cleaning every week but then feel so relaxed when its done. I agree that you need to think of what you want to do with the room - it will be a good source of inspiration!
Worse case scenario, I'll come and do it for you LOL!Proud to have dealt with my debts:

Welcome icontinuetodream - Isn't it exciting to get things sorted. Remember to think about what sort of rewards you might like to claim. Looking forward to seeing lots of little (or big:eek:) green puddles! Let us know how you are getting on.
Dannie yes winter is definately on it's way, but I am still determined not to put the heating on just yet. Hubby and I were discussing what to do with the piggies this winter, normally they move into the conservatory when it gets very cold, however that space has now been taken, so I think they may have to go into the garage. Good luck with your winter preparations.
mumof2 yes the MS didn't quite work out for me. I was getting stressed about it, so decided to give it up. As I just wasn't making any money. Along with my card selling (I just didn't have the motivation!) so I am just concentrating on the things that really matter. Take it easy with that back of yours and Good Luck for your LO starting full time at school - Gosh all that time - what will you do to fill it - 'Ribbit' :rotfl:

make a coffee and a sandwich take a radio and a watch or timer. give yourself 1 hour. start near the door and sort into 3 piles,1.throw away,2. charity shop\give away or ebay and3. keep. after 1 hour STOP. immediately put the charity stuff in the car then the throw away stuff in the bin or in the car to take to tip,and start listing ebay stuff if there is anything in that category. then go to charity shop and .or tip and deposit stuff.
tomorrow do another hour until its cleared. then clean the room and place the keep things in the room. if you still have to many items then go through them and give away/throw away as appropriate. I love a good clearout. its fun!0
