  • I tackled one of my frogs today and defrosted the freezer in the garage. It was a good job for such a warm day :)

I also did a bit of varnishing and hope that it turns out OK.

Unfortunately I had a bit of an accident with one of my other jobs and think I've ruined one of my favourite t shirts by getting epoxy resin on it.

I'm now watching Downton Abbey :)
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013

Hello everybody, Sundays weather meant I just prepared a surface in order to continue the painting "frog". However, having read about the type of paint I am using, it seems that one coat is adequate so I have already got most of it done. As well as that, it was a case of putting "odds and ends" away from the weeks activities. Just one "tadpole" was scattering some seeds in the garden. "Food for free" will be the "reward".

Today, I am unsure what lies ahead as it is on my mind to ring the doctor; a "frog" task which was due many months ago. :(

Thanks for your comment Football Widow.

    Hello one and all

Looks as though people were busy over the weekend. I didn't conquer any frogs over the weekend, although my friend cleaned my kitchen floor for me while i looked after her children. Cleaning is something i hate doing, although do it as it needs doing. Made me think whether there are others who would rather swap frogs as they don't mind doing things that others dislike. Although this might be easier it doesn't give the same sense of achievement that we are finding when we actually get things done we have put off.

Dannie - i hope that you do call the doctor - health is important, and if you know then you can make changes to your life if needed. Can we support you in anyway to reduce the coffee? It sounds as though it is something you are determined to do, so don't give up!

FW - well done on the boot fair - sounds like a lovely time with your DD
Dorastar - well done on the list - loving the colour coding - i may just copy that idea.

Mustmakealist - its been perfect weather for defrosting - just right to stock up again for winter.

    Frogs for me for today:
Research business I have an opportunity to take over
    Complete accounts for last month
wash throws and cushion covers from sofa

Reward - possibility of a business for me
£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.
    1% target £4000 so far £20 paid

    Morning everyone!

Wow, there's quite a few newbies joining which is fab :j The folk on here are lovely and I'm sure you'll get the motivation and support you need from here to get things tackled.

I'm a bit meh at the moment. And so have lost a bit of motivation. DH has been ill with a much less incapacitating and short lived version of what I had (I had mine for three weeks), and I wish he'd just gone to bed instead of wandering around looking like a slapped backside. It makes everyone a bit irritable, I'm not very good with martyrs! He wonders around dragging his feet and coughing saying 'Ohh, I'll just finish the painting here, and do this and that and then I have to do thiiis....siiigh..'. No, get to bed and get better!!!! Grrr! :wall: But anyway. He is getting better now. Thank blimming goodness.

But I have to fill in a lot of holes today in the loo, so to speak! :rotfl:Mum helped us strip the wallpaper on her day off (which the kids had started without us asking a year ago..) and the walls are terrible underneath. And so I have to do some serious filling. That's a frog, it will take ages but I know it will be so much better. Then we can wallpaper, paint and dado rail it then it's done. It's a tiny room and so it shouldn't take forever, but it needs a lot of pittling about with to get it looking errr..less scruffy and with a better finish. Although it will never look professional! << FROG!

I also have to dust and vac the bedrooms today, which again will be an easy tadpole since I have been keeping up with things much more.

We have a little girl coming for tea tonight which I'm excited about but nervous at the same time! She's adopted (she only met her adoptive mum in August, she was adopted along with her little brother and littler sister) and has recently started at DD's school. She's had so much to cope with that I'm conscious coming here might be a bit of a froglet for her, although everytime DD mentioned to her that she was coming for tea, DD said 'she does huge jumps in circles around me and I can't get out!' :rotfl:She's only 6. And she said she'll eat anything. I'm not great when other people's kids come in all honesty as we've had some really demanding little beggars that anyone would struggle to warm to. I really am looking forward to this little girl visiting us though. I noticed this morning she has had a bit of a flare up of possibly eczema which I hope isn't nerves about visiting :( But anyway, we'll look after her. And she's giddy as anything about it. So I guess it's a bit of a froglet for me as I feel I need to get the house ready and make something nice for tea and make sure she has a great time. :)

DD doesn't make friends easily and I do worry a bit, so I'm hoping this could be the start of somethimng lasting for both of them. :) But we'll see.

I really feel for all of your who've had school mum issues. It may sound crackers, but I try and focus on the fact that our kids are lucky to go to school and get an education when I get that 'fish out of water' feeling. The social side for the kids counts to me, I don't care about having a social side for myself via the school gates as I'm rubbish at keeping up with people anyway, only the true ones bear with me! They (the school m@fia) gave up inviting me to those god awful coffee mornings because I always said no. I never, ever would have had them in my house because I've heard the 'how much is her house worth? Ooooh, you're joking! It's horrible!' conversations and I know that one of my truest friends who is lovely has admitted she only goes because she likes a nosey in people's houses, which I don't. And I am aware that I'm possibly part of the gossip, but poor them for not having anything more constructive to do than sit around ripping people apart, which again is usually through ignorance or jealousy.

I have learnt I give too much and don't take much as a friend, and it's exhausting. I attract needy people who aren't really on my wavelength as well, which doesn't help! And so it's easier to stick to the ones who really, really do matter
and who I have a genuine click with. I did have one person who was a really, really horrible nasty woman say she needed a friend (fairweather sort, obviously) and sort of hinted meant me. I said I had enough already! :rotfl:She said someone else had said that to her as well!! She actually said 'I don't understand it. I think I'm great!'. I still laugh about it. She's so nasty and she just thinks it's everyone else with the issues. I suggested that she ought to go for counselling anyway. She hasn't spoken to me since, thank chuff. :p

Anyway. Sorry to go on. It's something I spoke to my own counsellor about years ago and I sort of hate seeing other people letting it bother them. It bothers us all, it probably bothers the others who seem horrible as well. My counsellor said that most of the people in the school playground probably have insecurities and that's probably why they behave the way they do. But looking through the lot of them as you walk your children into school is a talent, and one I'm still perfecting. But it does make life easier when it works.

Oops. I'm ten minutes over my plastering time. I hope your back's better Mumof2, and that you are having a lovely holiday Monnogran! Dannie, did you ring the doctor? Hmmm? We'll keep nattering you until you do! Health is the most precious thing, as everyone has said. It's important you get your concerns dealt with.

Best go and get cracking. Happy frog bashing folks, and sorry for taking the scenic route!
    Love from Luce xxx

Sorry! Just a quick change. I'm not plastering the loo (ahem). I've decided to make burgers and breadbuns and pear and almond cake for a special tea for DD and her mate. Which will take for a while probably, but time well spent. Plastering can wait!

(Although I am secretly expecting 'ew! I don't like that!' from either my child or our guest, haha!)

  • Good afternoon Lovely People. Weather is on the change, but I determined to keep my summer feelings going as I am feeling very vitalised.

Welcome to Dorastar - Loving the colour coding and thanks for joining us. Sounds like you are making a great start. Long may it continue ... :T

Dannie hope you are able to make that call. I know it will be hard for you but I'm sure it will give you a sense of relief once it is done. We're here if you need us.

iamsalt - ooo a new business how exciting. Let us know what you decide. Can you ask your friend to pop over I have some cleaning that needs doing and I can trade ... !

Luceff - you're so sweet. I am sure that this little girl will be so excited to come to play with your DD and that they will have a lovely time at your house and that they will make lots of mess! My DD has a nice little friend who comes to play and I hardly see them the whole time she is here. I hope it works out for them and for you.

A have a bit of advice about filler ... don't put it in the fridge to keep it fresh it will go rock bl**dy solid! :rotfl:

I'm still waiting to find a true friend, I did have a close friend once but we have grown apart as the years have gone on as we live so far apart (along with some bits of history). I also had a lovely male friend but had to give him up when I got married for the first time many years ago. I still miss him very much. I'm now on my second marriage and I know my husband now would be more accepting. But like you, Luce, I just can't find someone on the same wave length or I find very needy people. DH says I am very good at picking up 'lame ducks' :rotfl:

Em - hope you are feeling alot better today and that you thought up a nice reward for yourself.

makealist - what on earth were you using epoxy resin for? Have trawled the the forum on how to get it out? I would be very interested if vinegar does the trick. It seems to do everything else!

Anyway I have been at work this morning so haven't touched one of my froggies yet. Going to pick DD up from school, then we are off to the library and the park to 'find some flowers to put in my basket', think we may come back with a basket full of dead leaves!

So rather than trying to bust a gut for the sake of a list. I am going to transfer my frogs to tomorrow as I have no work commitments.

Hope your day has gone well. x

Hi all, back at last. Thanks for the recent posts.

Yesterday, I mentioned the incomplete painting "frog" task. It looks like that this might still be done on a cold fine day otherwise next spring.

The other "frog" was about ringing the doctor. It was really for him to review my medication and related aspects. Yes, I did ring but it was very much a disasterous day such as feeling nervous about ringing, not getting an appointment to see him but being given a "telephone appointment" and being told that he would also deal with my urgent prescription when he rang. The day got worse once I saw how fed up I was making somebody else feel with my continual health situation. As Lucyeff mentioned, health is so "precious" so it is a terrible loss and when it affect others, another upset.

Anyway, the appointment meant I had to stay by the 'phone moreless in one room all afternoon until 8pm! I did not know you could be more specific about the time of the appointment. The long wait also caused concern that I would not get the prescription. Neverthess, this doctor did spend ages with me so a lot of things were sorted. One thing achieved was that I managed to get my prescription altered how I wanted it. However, the "frog" is not over with yet as I have to collect the prescription, have a blood test and then ask for the results. Anyhow, thanks for your kind consideration and words everybody.

Setting aside that "frog", I did a "frog" and "froglet" yesterday which was deleting another 20 computer favorites and sorting out a bag of years old received Xmas paper. This I see as decluttering; making room for new things.

iamsalt - Since I read your comments about my coffee "habit", I've started to vary my intake with other drinks, two of which are coffee substitutes. Maybe in the long term to reduce the total as well? I am unsure how this thread could offer any support but it was nice of you to mention it.

Finally, today was collecting the prescription, picking elderberries ("tadpole") and repairing a bicycle ("froglet"). The berries are supposed to have medicinal qualities and the bike will prompt me to use it for various "frog" tasks too.
