Quick visit before I go off tomorrow for a weeks R & R. Two dear old friends coming in to feed the cat while we're away. So why, in the middle of all the ironing, packing, last minute shopping etc. did I find it necessary to clean the cooker, (first time since Christmas. SH!) I'll tell you why. Guilt and shame. What wonderful motivators those two feelings are.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi and thanks to everyoen for your really kind welcome words.
I managed to get my shopping and banking done today and had hoped to 'maybe' tackle some ironing before the pile explodes! But one minute I was having a five minute break and the next DD's were walking through the door shouting 'Hi Mum we're home' - must have fell asleep (again)! One of these days I wont feelguilty about it - just wish I could manage to be awake before DD's come in so they don't notice! So hard to be 'supermum' when you feel so fatigued all the time.
Anyhoo, frogs for tomorrw -
photograph and upload ebay items
start looking out clothes etc for holiday in 1 weeks time.
Reward - no guilt if I fall asleep (well I can try anyway!)
My sympathy to ziggy and football widow - only thing I can say is that soon these people will be exposed for what they are and the other mums will recognise that you lovely people are not what they thought - or were told!0 -
For those of you who have problems with the b*tchy, stuck up Mums at school what worked for me was to smile sweetly as we passed and say hello as it used to pee them off no end:rotfl:I do know it can take quite a bit of courage though. With one particular woman you could nearly see the steam coming out of her ears. We also had a narrow pathway to walk on so I used to block her way if I was feeling particularly wicked;)0

Hello folks. A lot happened yesterday. Some of it was a repeat of Thursday; early morning exercise looking at a local chive patch to see if they were ready and making use of the weather.
Checking for chives is a "tadpole" I do throughout the year but as I thought, it was too soon. I also pruned and (hopefully) rejuvenated a bush in the garden which was another "tadpole". I am unsure about the "reward" apart from picking up reduced price milk on my way back and healthier times for this bush? Later, a "frog" was done which was painting some railings leading to the house which I will inspect this morning ("tadpole"). I thought they looked quite "classy"! Another minor "tadpole" was sorting out cardboard boxes for reuse.
Football Widow - Firstly, yes I understand about your tortoise and other animals. I also feel that each animal requires specific needs e.g. as per species; individual personalities etc. Similarly, when I sorted out the bush yesterday, I noticed it had a health problem so I will be refreshing my knowledge about this plant ("tadpole" task).
Secondly, a month has passed since I joined this thread thanks. It is insightful in many ways; one of which was about the difficulty of allocating the "reward". Consequently, the act of doing/completing as often been the "reward". I hope this has been okay? Secondly, how health has affected doing "frogs". (There are probably many other things learned). In conclusion, I hope it is okay to continue this month doing "battle" with the "frogs"?
Anyway, maybe today will be another painting "frog" and miscellaneous "tadpoles".0 -
Well it is a really lovely day today here in Norfolk.
You were up early today Danni! Well done for making the most of the day. DD woke up at 4am coughing so anotherdisturbered night for us. That's 3 in a row so feeling a bit spaced out (I need my sleep!) Anyway Happy one month anniversary :T I'm really pleased that you are getting some benefits out of joining in.
monaebrook have you thought about putting on an alarm so that you get woken up before your girls come home. Hope you get your diagnosis soon and then you can stop beating yourself up.
abwsco thank you for your good words of advice. I will give it a go, although I do tend to be a smiley person automatically even if I don't feel like it (Apparently I don't like other people to feel bad). Only managed to blank a person once, but I felt very ok with it.
mumof2 why do people dress up to take their children to school? I have never quite understood that. What a treat to have a nap with the dog - me and casper would love the chance!
monnagran - Have a lovely holiday and how nice to come back to a sparkling cooker. I'm sure your friends will be delighted with it!;)
So now to my FROG. My DD and I are going to do a car boot tomorrow, as I have been promising her all summer and the weather looks as if it should be good (bit too hot but never mind). We have sorted the stuff out and got it ready to put in the car once daddy is back from football. I am going to do sandwiches and take drinks and something for her to do. I just know that she will at some point get bored but she wants to do it so I am gritting my teeth and getting on with it. Anything we don't sell will be going to the charity shop so that it doesn't go back into the garage!
Second FROG - to move the dresser from the lobby to the garage and find places for all the board games and bits from the dresser, just until we get the garage converted. Going to do a bit of work to the downstairs to make the lobby into a bedroom for Grandad, who is coming down in November . So not long to get it all done.
Dannie you have sparked my thoughts about Rewards. When I first started this thread I had intended to do just one frog a week and have one treat/reward a week. However it has become apparent that we all have various stages of frogs most days, so of course you can't continually reward yourself for just getting one thing done. However you could accumulate your frogs and award yourself a nice treat or reward at the end of the week say. Or as some people find, just knowing the job has been done, makes you feel good with somtimes having added benefits like more space or even just being happy with the way something looks.
I think as long as you are happy with how things are progessing and are enjoying the process of getting things done then your rewards can be personal to you. I have found a reward in itself has been meeting up with like minded people on this thread who have been so kind and friendly (yourself included). So alot of the time my reward comes from corresponding with everyone as I find this very enjoyable.
Will let you know how we get on with our FROG tomorrow. Hope you are all having a great day whether tackling your frogs or not! xFootball Widow :footie:

I have been gone awhile due to a very busy end of september so haven't had to time to catch up with all the posts but wanted to say a quick hello to all you fellow frog fighters.
I will catch up with everything tomorrow but tonight I am busy with a froglet. A box full of bits that has been glaring at me in my bedroom needs to be tackled and I have decided that tonight is the night;)Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Hi all, Saturday I did a few "tadpole" tasks including those mentioned yesterday. Another "tadpole" was a quick gardening pruning job. I also started the painting "frog" but it was too big a job for one day, so weather permitting, will continue later today.
Thanks for all the comments. Football Widow, yes I am up early all the time and even during the night sometimes for a few hours:eek:. Nevertheless, it would be worse not doing anything, although I agree it can be difficult. With reference to the "rewards", my difficulty in allocating them is a reflection of myself and not a "disadvantageous" comment about your idea for this thread. It made me realise I am not very nice to myself and and/or how life has become dominated by coping with other issues. Perhaps that accounts for much of my "frog" backlog? Glad also that you are benefitting from this thread. Hope the car boot sale goes well.
Anyway today I will just attempt the painting and do bitty everyday catching up outside of that. Bye the way, my previous "frog" not drinking excessive coffee was short-lived.

Well ... we survived the car boot and my DD was really good! I was so pround of us both. I was well prepared and we actually made about £40 out very little. DD enjoyed herself and just started to get bored as it was time to go home. We got a good pitch facing away from the sun, so we were nice and cool most of the day. Like all kids we ate our lunch before 10am but it was yummy!
QueenB good luck with your box of bits and nice to hear from you.
Dannie oh bless you! You really must be nice to yourself you deserve it and not let those other issues distract you!:)
OH hoovered up the leaves and tidied up the play area of rotting, half eaten (by the rabbit) pears - so another frog squashed until another time (we have two trees in our garden and they have lots of leaves). Next door have the pear tree and they have nearly all dropped.
Ok so this week:
Clean out 2 guinea pig hutches
Collect Prescriptions
Bank cheque and sort out finances
Post ebay parcel
Sort out Halloween Party
Book DD's birthday party
put the washing away once it is all dry
Strip Lobby ready for building work.
Reward: make some chocolate cupcakes
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend xFootball Widow :footie:

Football Widow & Ziggy - re your recent experiences with other kids` mums.... ok, they are supposed to be adults, BUT... they seem to HAVE to `belong`,just the way kids & teenagers do (maybe because some of them feel a bit low in self-esteem? That`s my theory after experience & observation as a mum, then fostering, then as a grandma sometimes at the school gates.) The clique is not always led by the nice mums, but by the gobby or !!!!!y type, pity is they`ve nothing better to occupy themselves, and sadly the nice ones will go along with the flow. You Two both seem pretty sound to me, so don`t you lose any peace of mind worrying about the other ninnies!
My biggest FROG for ages has been my kitchen floor - small, cluttered and really awful. It gets left for ages, with only the most recent or noxious spillages wiped up, and its always such a huge task to do it properly. Today, off sick with a lousy cold and feeling dreadful, I tackled it after doing the washing up and worktops. Sat on the floor washing 2 tiles at a time. Took ages. CBA using a mop...
Looks lovely now, put clean mats down, 1 rather rancid one in dustbin, 2 in WM. (These are multi-coloured woven cotton`rag-rugs`. I bought a stash in Poundland a few years ago and several are still surviving well)
I`m all frogged-out now,still feel rotten and CBA to think of a `treat`!0 -
Have only just spotted this thread and definitely need to come here regularly. House wise things aren't too bad but work wise I have a pond full of frogs, tiddlers and tadpoles to choose from on any given day!
Am going to spend some time tonight (in advert breaks in Downton) working out frog, tiddler and tadpole list for work atm. Already know that frog number 1 will be sorting out performance management papers and frog number 2 is assessment trackers - both quite hefty frogs (think fat green bulbous eyed frogs) and must be done asap. After that the frogs are smaller but still vitally important.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
