Weekly Spend Challenge w/c 28th August 2011

Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Hi all

I'm pledging a whopping £90 this week. It's payday on Wednesday and I calculated this figure using my extraordinarily complicated methods, but can't for the life of me work out how it got so high!

Actually, £20 is for my driving license photo card renewal as they sent me a thing through a couple of weeks ago as my photo has expired! HA! So will also have to buy photos I think...grr!

Evening all

I am declaring green £28 for last week after spending £8 on lunches, £10 in pub and £10 on taxi home after Thursday night out.

Have a good few weeks all. Looking forward to hearing the gossip when I get back.

I'll attempt this again. Can I sign up for £50 please? I'm getting my hair cut on Friday so I need to take that into account. I'm not going to include petrol though because I can never judge when I'm going to run out.

Robedha - I don't include petrol either but then again I use exactly £45 a week so I don't see the point in including it!

Hi everyone, slipped by the wayside last week but haven't done too badly. Can I pledge £70 this week please. Going out for dinner with an old school friend on Thursday and going to have my hair cut on Friday (for the first time since February!) Hope you're all enjoying the back holiday, some of us are working!
