Lots of wise advice, Mr B. It must be very disheartening for you especially as you have such good results, but please don't be tempted to throw in the towel. Keep going with the weight loss - that shrinking stomach is a good sign - and find ways to exercise that don't punish your knees. If you can get past this, you'll get to a point where you can run without them giving you gip.

Rethought my rethink, got up at 2.00am - done a whole chunk more of stuff to make me slightly more bulletproof on Assasination Friday, and then found myself at 4.10am with nothing to do and no chance of getting some more sleep. So I took a chance and ran. And ran into torrential rain the likes of which I have not run in. It was probably a subtle message so it's a good thing I don't do subtlety. Chose a 3k route to keep things simple and completed it without hitch or twinge but with a greater sense of levelheadedness than I've had in the last 48. Hopefully the endorphins will keep me from throttling anyone today (it'll take more than endorphins tomorrow). All the local characters wisely decided to stay in this morning and so the only person of interest I can report back is a Van Man with a Cat. He pulled up outside the Bathroom Shop/Brothel/Labour Camp in (unsurprisingly) a van, and when he got out, so did a cat. He was also wearing a flat cap (the man, not the cat) which is not really the done thing round here.

In Bloater money news, my 2 MBNA credit cards have sealed their own fate, a crazy interest rate hike on one, and a not-so-bad-but-screw-you-MBNA-cos-your-other-rate-is-so-high rate hike on the other means that I shall be declining their kind offer to add to my debt and will simply be paying down the balance at existing rates til it goes. In the long run this will be a good thing I am sure, but does kinda limit some options at the moment.

DS squawking - must be milk time.
  • Well done on a twinge free run Mr B.
Persisting it down this morning here too, not nice.
RIP MBNA and may they rest uneasy, in the words of Madness 'no friend of ours'...

  • Flat caps and clogs are still pretty popular round these Northern parts...the clogs make it safer when negotiating the cobbles ;)
Not liking the sound of Friday Mr B, hope all will be ok x

I really admire the amount of energy you seem to have! Glad you managed with no twinges too.

Perhaps the knees liked the time off and are quite happy to do 3k if not asked for anything more at 4am? Maybe they had gone back to sleep? Anyway good on them for behaving.

Well done for the bullet-proofing. Friday will soon be in the rear view mirror too - now that would be an interesting running accessory... I would keep an eye out for other cat-flap wearers, though. It's probably an up-and-coming trend.

  • I saw a Yorkshireman the other day wearing a cat flap.

Straight away, I knew he was dyslexic.
