MrB have you spoken to your Dr about your concerns ?. I spoke to mine last year and got a referral to the Hospital sleep clinic and they gave me a machine that I had to use that night to measure my sleep patten.

Just a gentle reminder that losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Nobody will ever knock you for getting more exercise, but improving your diet will have a far greater impact as far as weight goes (which in turn will make it easier to exercise).

So far, so good. Have been keeping up my side of the bargain more or less.

    What went well
    - Have managed some exercise every day
    - Wine and beer are just distant memories
    - Finances looking pretty healthy
    - 2 more tubs of crud from the shed have been dealt with
    - Feeling generally pretty upbeat

    Even better if....
    - I'd got around to listing some stuff

The fact that I can point to the shower hose leaking (have had to wrap it with duct tape as a temporary measure) and my watch needing a new battery as the major hassles in my life at the moment speaks volumes as to the relative calm of life at Maison Bloater currently.

Job-wise I'm playing it very cool, I'm of the opinion I will stay put for now on whatever contract transpires - the convenience and the familiarity outweigh any other new oppurtunies at the moment. All I am certain of is that I have pushed another limit (educationally I found my breaking point on the second seminar of a MA years ago and subsequently quit) and now I know managerially that sitting at the top table gives me scant joy. So it's time for me to redouble my efforts on the things that I can do more of: more exercise, more moneysaving, more ideas, more quality time with the family and more inner peace. And some more tea. Must put the kettle on.

Aren't you normally in bed by now . Has your sleep pattern shifted?

All sounding very positive (duct tape was invented for a reason you know ;) )
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • MrB I have sleep apnoea and a CPAP please don't underestimate this condition. Apart from the obvious memory and concentration problems - untreated it causes heart problems - strokes - and other serious conditions. It is also harder to lose weight because the body craves food to stay awake. Seriously have a sleep trial - use the machine and when you lose weight you can then stop using the CPAP. Modern machines are easier and a humidifier prevents dryness. Don't be too proud to do this for yourself :-)

Ultimately it will help you reach your goals.
So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.

    Love your 'obs' refs!
((( shivers)))) with memories of my MA, finally passed this year, would have never done it had I known the stress; heavy study, bringing up a family and full time teaching simply don't mix.

Hey mr b random passer by doffing my cap on the ways to the newsagents.

Losing weight is through diet, not excercise. Hairy dieters cookbook has massive portions of real tasty food. I have to check I've followed the recipe as I can't believe it's diet food.
  • I too like many have spent my down time reading Mr B's story. Im impressed sir at many things, not only your level of commitment, but your positivity shown in times of hardship! The writing style also kept me reading!

Feeling quite chipper again today (despite the play-off loss) - some good news at work with a project that I thought was going to eat into a lot of my time turned out to be pretty painless and stress levels are even lower than before. Up to day 5 of the Ab challenge and managed to trundle 7km earlier on. In between the temporary despair of the football I decided to check my pension online to find that my former employers haven't reported my work dates correctly leaving me at least 4 months contributions shy of where I should be. Will find all my payslips and go into battle with them tomorrow. Off for a cuppa now.
