MrB looking back you seem to be a crash and burn type of guy, money, diet, exercise. Im not surprised you need a week out and maybe some other MSE'rs could see it coming. Once you are on your feet again could you not build these rest days into your routine so that it is easier to maintain or are you someone who needs the adrenaline rush to motivate you? :think:The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. I was always taught that exercising every day was bad for your health - the body needs a rest.
So, maybe running 3-4 times a week and the other exercises on the remaining days.
And, yes - plenty of sleep (says the person who was awake in the early hours again today).

Morning all. Me and the mug of tea are back again. No exercise to report but it's never been far away from my mind. This week off from the punishing routine has made me realise I do still need to get some balance. Crash and burn, all or nothing, feast or famine - these are definitely all phrases that could be applied to how I conduct myself in certain matters. So I'm going to take on board all the wise comments above and draw myself up a new plan that involves more rest days. Interestingly enough, my weight has actually gone down from last week, so it hasn't been seven days of binging and gratutitous calorie-consuming. There has been some wine but I'm not hanging my head in shame.
Good things
- House over the road (which is slightly nicer than our house) has been put on the market at a stupidly high price. This in turn has led to a house round the corner of our road (which is slightly less nice than our house) being put on the market at a stupidly high price too. Figuring our house would be worth the median amount of those two, it means our LTV is suddenly looking a lot better. I know sale prices are the real measure, but it's just nice to know that suddenly things seem a bit more buoyant - when we do get around to remortgaging for whatever purpose the better our LTV the more options we'll have.
- HMRC paid me back my overpayed taxes
- Mrs B got a little payrise which'll be backdated til September
- Using vouchers has worked incredibly well this month for the shopping. Keeping every receipt will yield some interesting data for next month. I confidently predict we could knock another 33% off our grocery bill if we cut out all the unneccasaries.
- Mrs B and I are totally on the same page with regard the debtbusting - once we have the summer trip paid for in cash then we are going to keep up the same discipline to get Christmas paid for upfront and then start tackling the cards.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Nice to see you back Mr. B.
Right. I was going to add something else this morning, but I couldn't think of the word that was essential to the topic.
"Lesson planning" - I think that's what you teacher-types do before getting in the classroom. If its called by another term these days, forgive me, but you get the jist of it.
Set yourself an exercise in planning how to get yourself a better balance between being the great Dad and hubby you so obviously are, working and STILL trying to fit in running / stretching and other money-making enterprises. You wouldn't try and cram four hours of one subject in a day to your students - it's not a balanced day.
So, even if it means running twice a week.
It could be a three-day cycle: running one day, stretching the next, eBay listing (or A N Other money-making project) on the third day. Repeat. Final day of the week = day off. Either a lie-in or make the family breakfast. You choose.1 -
Back again with the tea and 6.5km to report. This month's total is up to 82km - not as much as I wanted, but still on track to beat December's 102. Will be restarting the Ab and Squat Challenges from Day 1 again and am planning on getting past Day 13 this time around. But I'm not going to impose any kind of daily ritual upon it all. If I get it done I tick it off. If I don't I just do it the next day.
Eight days til payday and like everyone else it is really dragging. Am desperate to update my totals, get my bills for next month paid and see how much we can put into the travel fund. Can also chuck the council tax money at it for the next two months.
Got an alert for a suitable job uptown with what looked like a really attractive daily rate and for a moment I was tempted to apply. But it was only a 5 month contract and when you do the figures over the whole year I'd have to be working 50 weeks a year to get what I now do on 39. Which led me to think that I need to be contacting this agency to say that if there are any short-term / holiday time / work from home shots then count me in. That's not to say it isn't going well in my job - it is, it's just I'm never getting caught up in complacency again. Right, I can hear the other Bloaters stirring. Time for Sunday duty.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)
