Sorry not sure what point your making?

£2.20 parcels will cost £2.60. Or am I missing something?

Currently both Small and Medium Parcels are described as Packet and the Packet rate is £2.20. From April 2nd, Packet rate won't exist any more. Anything that fits into Small Parcel dimensions will go from £2.20 to £2.60, you're correct. Anything that has to go as a Medium Parcel goes from £2.20 to £5.20.

A medium parcel is to be a maximum weight of 20kg, and maximum dimensions of 610mm by 460mm by 460mm - that's a pretty large parcel and to be fair to RM £5.20 for something that big seems ok to me?
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

£5.20 is up to 1kg. If you look at the full chart: http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/RoyalMail_OurPrices_April2013.pdf second class prices are as follows:

    1 - 2kg - £8.00
    2 - 5kg - £13.35
    5 - 10kg - £19.65
    10 - 20kg - £27.70

Maximum compensation available is £20, previously it was £50.

Am going to have to think very carefully about pricing of parcels taking into account the above - I think most of my stuff (vinyl and software) should be unaffected but I'll have to be vigilant when it comes to combined postage requests. Am talking like a seasoned old ebayer here. I remember back in the early days of this thread when I hadn't even started. Talking of which - I now have 150 items listed and a grand total of 1 bid. Thankfully I have developed some pretty damn quick listing fingers but that 99p sale means for the effort put in this month I have probably earned about 20p for each of the 5 hours of my life spent listing. Not such great odds.

And the drinking has spectacularly failed to stop happening. Elephant in the corner of the room is now fully fledged circus elephant performing centre stage in the spotlight. Gin. Then a cheap bottle of red. And the last of the gin have been the last three nights consumption. Not sure why but it's seemed necessary. I think there might be a book trying to burst out. Hopefully I can hold it in until the summer.

Hi Mr B been missing in action a bit. Real life is really sh!tty at the moment so have been hiding away. But the bit about the sore joints struck a cord, so her I am

You automatically thought of arthritis and it may well be, but there are many different forms of arthritis AND IF YOU GET DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT SORTED QUICKLY, it can minimise the damage to the joints. You can also help the joints by strengthening the muscles around them, and of course relieving pressure on them:o ahem.

BUT it could also be gout. And alcohol and weight won't help with that either. You really need to get this sorted asap. Most surgeries have early morning or evening appts these days, so there is NO excuse not to get this seen too.

I am not against supporting your body with the glucosamine etc, BUT you should protect your joints by making sure what you have first......

Evening all. Been a funny few days in world of Bloater. Am really not sure what happened last week - despite starting the week full of plans to cut down on the drinking, I had at least a bottle of wine every day for 7 days, culminating in last Saturday where I had considerably more. Even in the September meltdown I didn't plumb those depths. So tonight is my 5th consecutive Alcohol-Free Day and I don't feel spectularly different aside from the fact that the day the drinking stopped so did the writing. And in fact the house is messier than ever. Poor returns on the 150 listed eBay items - in the end I sold a grand total of 6 records. Have a few things up at the moment but really have to do a mass listing in the next couple of days of fresh stuff.

Despite the downbeat tone I am in quite a good place at the moment. The job is still going well and we seem to be getting through just about financially. The next two or three months are going to be the absolute crunch - it's going to take some proper juggling to ensure everything gets paid the full amount and on time. And I think banging away in the back of my brain in last week's winesoaked evenings was the fear, and the guilt, and the utter helplessness. But those stupid pointless feelings have to be dealt with head-on, not just temporarily sunk into the bottom of a bottle.

And so, in about as hippyish a state as I will ever get, I am off to meditate to some reiki bamboo flute panpipey music.
