No excuses for not getting out running either - it will be a personal disgrace if I have to record a big fat zero on the run count for March.

Only if you have the snow as an excuse? (Very cool)

This Royal Mail price hike is down to the fact that Royal Mail can only charge a fixed-fee for delivering their rivals mail. This works-out at a loss to RM of around 18p per item.

What we need to is to pester the hell out of our MPs to get this restriction lifted under the grounds that it is discriminatory to non-businees post users.

Mine is pursuing it quite vigorously with Royal Mail - I've already had two letters from him with updates.

pursuing it with RM to what end?
A company on the verge of being hacked up and privitised, which has its prices set by regulators

Partly confirmation that this isn't a first step towards surcharging Highlands and Islands as we don't exactly have the breadth of choice that the rest of the country does when it comes to choosing alternative services for parcels. It doesn't actually affect me, as I have a business account and can use RM24/RM48 which doesn't have the split into Small and Medium parcel, but for other small businesses in the area who don't send the quantities required for RM24/48 or people selling on eBay, it's a real disadvantage.

Our politicians managed to get the fuel duty discount for the Islands and it's possibly going to spread to the most remote parts of the mainland as well (I pay £1.50 a litre for diesel here), so it's not impossible that a similar deal could be brokered with Royal Mail.
  • Wow you are so lucky Caz living up there, beautiful countryside.

I had never been so far north until last year and it blew me away :)
