  • Things are going really well in the new job. Have just been double and triple checking the spreadsheet to check that come pay day we have enough to cover the bills and minimum payments. That's all I can hope for in the first month. Will take some time to get back into paying down the debts - survival is the key at the moment. And survival with a smile on our faces.

    Glad it's going well Mr B :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Six days since my last posting on this thread - not good practise. Snow has been a pleasant distraction and today we are all snowed off from our various places. I have to use this bonus Monday productively and so I shall do one of those lists that everyone does.
    - Put more stuff in the understairs cupboard eBay box*
    - Get the darned PPI form back to my Ombudsman Buddy
    - Get prices for the two eBay parcels I need to invoice
    - Take the suit to the dry cleaners (not MSE but very necessary)
    - Investigate the switching potential for utilities

If I get all that done today then I shall be a happy lad. Almost as happy as 'happy daddy' - whose diary is just the most upbeat thing I've ever seen on here and I highly recommend.

    * Regular readers will realise the significance of that statement. The understairs cupboard has now fallen into my hands (well, I share it with the hoovers). But it allows me to get at least three large storage tubs of eBay stuff in the house thus saving the snowy trudge to the Shed of Regret.

    Evening all.

Interesting times ahead. There have been so many moments I have been forseeing since the bombshell dropped in September and the last one is coming up. For months I was prefiguring the additional journey and stressing whether I would make it to work ontime and how much later would I be picking the kids up - just to recap - my previous place of employment has an on-site nursery where my son goes - so I still have to go back to my old workplace every morning and then run the gauntlet through South London traffic to my new place, and then the reverse journey at the end of the day, and then go get my daughter - but nearly three weeks in I can happily say that I've never been late for work and my pickup times for my kids haven't changed dramatically at all. So now the last big moment is almost upon me. I have driven myself almost to the brink of mental breakdown looking at the monthly spreadsheet again and again and again and triple quadruple quintuple checking the stats - we should scrape through - we should be able to make all our minimum payments, and anything additional I can bring to the pot (ebaying mainly) will hopefully put back the date each month that we have to start using the cards again. Feb and March should have no council tax payments - which will help, and come August we lose a serious payment for nursery, and come November a big loan is repaid, so we can see daylight somewhere down the tunnel. And hopefully the lessons we are having to learn now will stand us in good stead to maintain frugality in the future. I want to be on the mortgage-free boards, not being a child benefit payment away from defaults. Ebay has cleared around £120 for me this month (I have yet to do the final stats but I reckon it's about that amount). Got some good stuff to sell off next month so will be hoping to match or even eclipse that figure then. Right. 2 more days til payday. Fingers crossed I've got my calculations right on what money I'm getting.

  • Fantastic! It's all going to work out isn't it? There's only 4 months, Apr, May, Jun, Jul to manage fullest figure outgoings and then it gets easier permanently. Also don't forget that even with minimum payments and mortgage payments your debt total will shrink albeit at a slower rate.
