Battle of Bloater vs Shed ended in a creditable draw - rearranged half of it so the sellable items are nearest the door. Resulting in all the things we actually use being at the back. I am hoping there will be another free listing weekend before Christmas. Took me until bedtime last night to remember about the halfbeard problem - obviously neither Mrs B nor the children thought it important enough to remind me. It would explain the stranger than usual looks I got from my neighbour and the staff in the Co-Op yesterday afternoon.

Listened to a NLP clip on youtube yesterday about clearing writer's block and it seems to have done the trick. I now have about 35 ideas for books rushing through my head which doesn't make things any easier. I now need some NLP for writer's Imodium to slow the flow down. It's not easy being me.

They probably thought you were just a tad early for Halloween;)

  • I have to go out running tomorrow morning. Not the kind of consensual 'have to go' out running, but the have to 'have to go' out running tomorrow morning. With a carrier bag containing three stuffed toys. At least one of which squeaks. Mr Piggy squeaks a lot. Shame he didn't squeak a bit louder when my daugher's best friend was leaving the house after some trick or treating. Being SE London we get it out of the way before 7pm cos there's a lot more trick than treat by then. So at 9.30 we get a distraught text asking when we can return daughter's bestie's toys to daughter's bestie. No worries say I, I'll walk round now (bottle of wine precludes driving). No you won't - says Mrs B - the toys might get stolen and you might get mugged - go in the morning on your run.

This isn't a conspiracy to get you out pounding the streets is it ;).

Running through the rainy 4.30am streets full of discarded halloween props, muddy puddles and slippery leaves clutching a carrier bag containing squeaking soft toys I wasn't sure whether the good folk of my area would think they were watching a late trick or treater or a really early Goth Santa - probably the latter as the halfbeard still hasn't been fully addressed.

November has to be the month of austerity - the last two months have been devoted to getting over the shock of the job and getting back on track - now it's time to tighten the belts in every way. And so here, in a suitably presidential manner - is my solemn declaration of austerity.

    1. I will run 100km this month
    2. Wine on a Saturday night only
    3. I will use up my listings allowance the next free listing weekend
    4. Any presents bought online will be done through quidco

I think that's it, anyone got any more ideas?

No 2 - does that mean no alcohol at all on the other nights or just different alcohol ;)?

    How about no takeaways .

    good starting plans Mr B.

When buying said Xmas pressies, also source the best price and voucher codes potentially too.

Do you have anyclubcard vouchers to use up? The website HotUKDeals is a fab site if you don't use it already.

I also do the wine thing - as well as saving money it saves mega calories as a) i don't drink the wine in the week and b) i eat waaay less too;)

Likewise, we only have a takeaway on a fri nite.

We try to meal plan both to save money and to make our lives easier re. above.

I am off today and am (whilst also on here and ebaying) making vast batches of cakes, quiches, spag bol/chilli, soup etc and freezing them.

Try using the demotivator tool on here to see how much you would save per annum by reducing the wine/TA spend.

on another note (not sure it helps or not) a HotUKDeals post says that there are some drinkable wines at Tescos on 3 for £12 plus they also have 25% off from today when you buy six:D

    Keep on Keeping on!
