Things seem to have quietened down - which is no bad thing - lots of stuff to do, and in the pipeline, but for this coming weekend everything is taking a back seat. The thing I want to do more than anything else tomorrow is to get out for a run. I have a bottle of red on standby for tonight but won't indulge for fear of oversleeping and missing my morning slot. In fact, so determined am I to get back onto the fitness kick that I am off to sleep now. Before 8pm. Night all.

Best intentions and all that.... But in my defence. Was woken at 8.45pm with the boy Bloater being sick and then at 1am by Mrs Bloater wanting to talk. And it's raining. And we're hosting a big event tomorrow - 21 people in a small house means no room for any dust or clutter. The shed is absorbing the hoard well, but even that tardis-like structure has its limits.

Did weigh myself and was pleasantly surprised that I have put on hardly anything despite having hardly the most virtuous couple of weeks food, drink and exercise-wise. Renewed efforts are called for and will happen. Quiet optimism (and the lingering smell of puke) permeate the Bloater household. Hope you all have a lovely breakfast.

Ah MrB. you are witty, intelligent and charming which means that we applaud you even when you make excuses and bury your head ;). I joined your thread over a year ago but dipped out in the middle with a feeling of deja vu.

I am really sorry to hear about your job and it is this which prompted me to stop reading and comment. My husband was unfairly dismissed and he did fight the system and won but he is now effectively excluded from that industry. It is a difficult pill to swallow and a very personal decision on whether it is worth it.

However - this post may be a tad harsh, but it's time to take responsibility and this includes MrsB. Bite the bullet MrB and tackle things rather than avoid them. In the beginning :A (of your diary) you took a lot on at once, jogging at ungodly hours, wiping out your debt, losing your weight, selling on ebay, writing your stories, not to mention having the mother in law to stay :p. But joking apart you would have to be superhuman to sucessfully manage all of that.

The praise we have given you is a double edged sword, it encourages you when you're on a roll, it makes you feel good even when you're not doing so well (and that's a good thing yes?) but it also lets you off the hook. ;)

There has been good advice on here from wonderful MSE'ers who offered to look at a SOA for you, gave you advice on different types of excercise, helped you through your ebay baptism, thrifty shopping ideas, diet advice etc.

Your wife has had a pay increase :T and you have reduced your debt by 26k :T but as a teacher would you write on your report with the resources available, could have done better :o

Over a year ago there were troubles and stresses at work and being a maverick doesn't help matters, sometimes we have to learn to control the inner beast, it's a battle between our personal pride and our families needs. Your financial situation is now considerably worse and having followed your diary it is unlikely that you will cancel christmas and so the New Year is going to be tough.

So now it's all about damage limitation. One thing at a time.

:wall:Do the SOA, take the hit. If you feel that to do this now you would leave you too exposed and uncomfortable then start a new user name just to deal with the debt. Leave no clues.

:naughty: Stop trying to kill yourself jogging while England sleeps. In the early days you talked about getting a bike or what about the other excercise ideas that you have been given? Aim for 30 mins at any time, every day rather than continually upping your game.

 Give up your takeaways or your wine but don't try to give up everything. Plan your shop and plan your meals. Next month give up or reduce something else.

Smaller changes are easier to acheive and maintain you might not get the highs but you won't get the lows either.

This is terrible news about your job and hopefully one of your contacts will come through. I do not know whether you could have prevented this situation or whether you have actually managed to delay the inevitable but whether you get another job quickly or start your own business or not, you can just stop, take stock and prevent a bad situation becoming much worse.

But use this as a wake up call, a little less conversation, a little more action please. :D

Mr B. I cant offer much advice re work and money.
So I'll go with what I know (a bit) :D
I genuinely think you are creating a wall for yourself with the running.
You could fit in a session of bodyweight exercises every day, very easily
no need to go out,get dressed up or even get up early
I guarantee you would notice a difference in how you feel doing them in 4 weeks
    low impact,configurable and flexible
Then getting a run in can be your extra bit

As I said before Mr B. you are making the run into an all or nothing event :)

Hi Custardy! I am trying your advice and I was wondering if you can pop over to my diary so I don't cross chat on Mr. B's.
