Morning. About time I got back on track with this quest seeing as it's nearly a year since it began.
Here's a brief catch-up. Debts are likely around the same mark as before - the Bloaters are treading water just about without drowning. My weight currently stands at 146.8kg which sounded fine cos I had no idea what it meant, but having googled it I appear to be 23stone1 again. The crippling knee pains have gone, and so I've unwisely stopped taking the supplements that were helping, and even more unwisely I stopped drinking alcohol altogether exactly a fortnight ago. Working on the quite correct assumption that turning 40 was going to be like diving into a puddle of misery, I thought I would turn that puddle into a lake of misery and live in continual sobreity. This has led to an increased sugar intake in myself (since giving up all other vices, biscuits are the only fun I have left) which reached a crescendo yesterday lunchtime where I found myself on the verge of passing out from dizziness - along with other symptoms I would appear I could well be on the cusp of diabetes* So I better get the hell off of that cusp and return to this thread as a daily anchor to keep me, er, anchored.

Have also worked out that I'm useless as a cheerleader (hence apologies to any who started the challenges I created - I just couldn't keep up with the ride) so I will just stick to this thread.

    My targets are:
    - Some relevant exercise every day
    - Eat nothing sweet
    - Upping my income
    - Knowing exactly to the penny where we are financially.

As it's 4.50 I should be braving rushing out of the door to embark upon a run, but I think I'll leave it another day - just getting myself back onto this thread is a good enough start for today.

*I am going to get an appointment with the docs and have all the necessary tests done, I would never treat a condition like diabetes so lightly.

Good to hear from you again Mr B. :)

Well done on climbing back on the wagon - I know this sounds very selfish of me especially as I really want you to feel the benefit of your diary for yourself, but you have achieved so much as a cheerleader in inspiring others to lose weight / save money. I know I saved something like £900 over the challenge. Yes, I found other things to spend it on, but at least it was available to spend (and judging by the bank balance it really did make a difference). So thank you - and I'm sure there will be loads of other people who feel the same and would want to join me in wishing you all the best and doing a spot of cheering you on in our turn. We love your diary and your writing but most of all we want you back in good health both physically and financially.

The dr's appointment is a good step - and sometimes it helps to have 'official' backing to makes positive changes to your health. At the very least you can say no to things and add 'my doctor advised me'.

    Go for it.
