Perfect way to start the Friday evening - just got a bid in from the Californian dude for the elderly Oric computer - so at least £49 quid coming my way in 4 days meaning I will definitely be able to settle the nursery bill this month without taking a chunk out of next month's pay. And cos it's a nursery only open during school term time, the manager there will not have noticed that the money didn't go in at the start of the month. So am rather pleased and very very thankful to the good folk of this thread for inspiring me. In other old computer news, dug the Ataris out of their exile, and managed to get one to power up - going to put together a big bundle of stuff in one lot and list that tomorrow as well, plus Mrs B's clothes castoffs. I am now going to raise a toast to all those in MSEland, as I got a £4 bottle of Carmenere from Morrisons. It's almost like drinking nice wine.

Go for it, my OH just got his atari out the loft when we moved into our new place and wants to use it, people will buy :)

I just finished our freebie bottle of rose from the inLaws, Three Hills wine. No doubt very cheap as that's all his Dad buys but hey it's helping me stay distracted from the fact OH isn't here. You've done incredibly well, keep on going :T:T:T

This is great news Mr B :T.

Shame Adam is unloved though :(

Adam isn't unloved - he has 4 people watching him and 4 days to go. Somebody somewhere will want him. I still have faith in Adam. This wine has gone straight to my head.

Well done on getting the nursery money together. That is awesome. When people say about having a bad relationship with their in laws, I am always thankful that my in laws are so great!

Spent £21 on bets for the National for various family members and got back £5.50. Good thing I'm not a gambler - have been really plunged into gloominess by this, even though it was a family tradition to have a flutter. I think I've been turned MSE. Supposed to list a few more things tonight but feeling a bit flat.

You've put in a lot of MSEing recently - maybe the flatness is an indication you're due a break? Or one more burst of listing then take tomorrow off?

I think you had a major adrenaline spike trying to get all that money together when you realised there was a shortfall, have a breather tomorrow, get yourself lightly back on track next week and you will be fine.

  • Just spotted this thread; well done, it sounds like you're doing well :)

I hardly ever come across anyone who has even heard of an Oric, let alone owns one! My dad was an early-adopter computer nerd and I was weened on the Oric Atmos through the 80s and 90s. He also had an Oric one! Probably still does. Recently he wrote an Oric emulator for PC so we got the old games out again. Now that was fun :)

Good luck on your continued quest!
