Morning all. A few more items have ended on eBay and it's looking alright - needing about £200 to remedy the shortfalls, and (not taking into account fees and stuff) total sales are at £110. So I've basically halved the despair I felt a couple of weeks ago, and there's still 87 items yet to be bid on. And Adam. I have high hopes for him. Today I have the morning to myself (unheard of) as family are going to various garden centres and shops. Hence I shall use the time to seek out any more sellable stuff and go through my unlisted vinyl to see if there is much Adam in there - he was my idol back when I was around 9, and if he can help me pay off the nursery bill then he'll remain a legend in the Bloater household forever.

    Go Adam

I once queued up to get his autograph when i was about 17 (he was on a bit of a come back trail) and the only thing i had for him to sign was the back of a tampax packet-i think he was mildly bemused.
  • I was also a big Adam fan when I was about fourteen.

Had loads of posters of him adorning my bedroom walls. Not quite sure what happened to them. Possibly in my parents loft as I was a bit of a hoarder.

Hope Adam helps get you straight Mr B and its nice to see you posting again.:D

Evening all. Few more vintage games selling for reasonable prices means my shortfall hypothetically is now down to a very manageable £55. Spent the day cataloguing oodles of 'stock' - still got over 400 records to shift (most of them are absolute junk but now I'm starting to believe that anything can be shifted on eBay), and certainly have enough stuff altogether to be listing 100 items a month well into the summer.
Mother-in-law behaving herself mostly and even took us out for dinner just now so things are looking up. I just hope that anyone reading these forums in isolation and desperation will realise that there are a lot of supportive people on here who want to help, can help and do help. I just hope someday to be able to help out some other people along the way.

  • i think you are missing a trick having items ending in the early morning or during the day.

If you want to list items for evening, you can list any time, but schedule them for say 3 days time. This 'costs' you 6p. but, before that time is up you can go in and amend each listing and list immediately, thus voiding the 6p charge. Basically you list throughout the day at your leisure, scheduling them for future, but then go in before that deadline at say 8pm and send to to live auction - therefore auctions end at the right time of day, but no work or panic at the end of the day when you can't be bothered.

Just avoid listings ending during Britain Hasn't Got Talent or EastEnders or the like.

I know my listings leave a lot to be desired, but the haphazardness of having 2 littlies mean pretty much the only time I can guarantee to be undisturbed on the computer is around 2am - hence my auctions tend to finish then.
Anyways, on other matters, am veering ever nearer my target - only £45 to go - but can already feel the foot lifting off the pedal. This is when I'm at my most dangerous to myself, when I can see the finishing line - it's taken me til 3pm to post on here today, not the (recent) usual 6am, the temptation to pop down the Co-Op and get a celebratory bottle in is almost overwhelming, whereas in fact this is when I need to keep things focused, cos I ain't out of the woods yet.
  • so list at 2am but use the scheduling trick, then when you have the time of an evening amend listings to start immediately - takes moments.

Mr B, thats good advice from Wishi - but remember to do the amendment - cos I forgot once:D
