Sold 11 records last night - which was nice, eBay is still ticking over slowly but surely.
Well done on the sales! Yes, we will permit energetic tidying in place of running seeing as it's icy. What's more a tidy house means more ease of movement which burns more calories so it's all to the good.
Cardboard... you are insulating the loft with it / have a neighbour who's ebaying and is too shy to ask for any themselves / making a model sleigh to go with gallygirl's lovely cardboard reindeer?Miggy

Wrapping delicate but bulky Christmas presents. Or probably won't need to say anything as everyone will be so concentrated on their jobs, Christmas shopping, they won't notice you!0

My usual excuse for needing boxes is making a castle and other imagination creations for the kids. Mine are 16 and 20 so have to say nextdoors kids now. Local shop keepers know my children. Our local likes to give away cardboard saves on recycleing costs and refuge collection. They even give away plastic packaging from multipacks so you can 'protect' your items in transit.
Well done on the sales tho, i have read with interest. Makes humourous reading when you finally get in at 10pm after a 14hr shift down the bookies. Why do people gamble for so long??BSC member 137

How about you are making a soft landing spot for Santa when he falls out of the chimney? Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Mr B, I am an avid follower, but rare poster.
For your books why not make some small leaflets on the printer with titles, where they are sold and cost and put a leaflet in with each package that you despatch?
I do that for my business and view it as a small acheivement on the marketing front each time ones gets sent. It's low cost and if there's no take up it hasn't cost anything.
Potentially though you are looking at a world wide (English) speaking market.
Keep it up and have a happy break all

Wow, ebay sales ended up being crazy - 21 over a weekend, but some of the international buyers are now querying the postage - my insistence on sending everything out recorded is not going down too well in corners of Sweden or the Czech Republic. Have been beavering away behind the scenes and have bought a couple of internet domains to pursue my web plans, still haven't done the final stats for the month but have been inspired by this hoaky quote that got emailed today to Mrs B - "Life is for living, and to live it to its full extent generally takes persistence and tenacity. It's just that it's equally sensible at times to recognise that we've more on our plate than we can deal with. When that happens, to extend the metaphor, for goodness' sake don't pile more on - and preferably offload some of what's already there. If the next day or two are looming over you with impossible demands, recognise that impossible means just that. Impossible." And so, to add to the running and the calculating of the finances, I must also put my ever - diminshing prescence on this thread to one side for a while, as it's another thing on my plate that I don't have time for at the moment. Merry Christmas to all the readers, I hope to be back soon and back on form, but just in case the plate doesn't get cleared for a while may I just extend my sincere thanks to all of you from myself and my family - you have inspired, challenged and supported me in ways I did not know possible.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)
