Ok just got telewest broadband installed & need to get a linksys router as they are supported by work
I assume this one will work:

But what about this one - somewhat confusing with similar model names but this appears a better model?

Don't really care about the price difference

You don't need to use Linksys if you don't want to. The first one operates at a maximum speed of 54Mbs and the second one 125Mbs but only if you use a compatible adaptor at the PC end. i.e. if you have WiFi built in, it will only work at 54Mbs anyway. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Very true, between two wireless devices it's the slower and shorter range of the devices that dictates speed and range. Similarly and specific technologies such as MIMO will only be effective with both devices having that particular technology. But most of these standards are independant of specific manufacturer and so you should be able to "mix n match" for cheapest devices etc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

small tip:- Never buy the non-standard speed booster type featured branded kit...they become problematic when you add differing branded wireless devices later on.Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...! :cool:0

Eh ? my linksys router doesn't come with an external aerial - it comes with two !

If someone knows different please shout but this is what I was told tonight.
I received a call from them on Tuesday 6 February, as obviously they had been informed by BT that I was leaving them, offering me line rental, broadband etc. for £19.95 (see post on page 3) Although they did not offer wireless broadband, when I enquired about it I was offered £60 cashback to purchase one myself. Hope this helps.0 -

I have the Linksys ADSL2 Wireless Router, thoroughly recommended, it's worked perfectly for me!
The Great Declutter Challenge - £8760 -
Ironically my Belkin wireless router died the other day and I spent ages trying to decide whether to leave NTL (which was costing me £43 for phone and Broadband). When I realised that I was now on Virgin Media, I phoned them this morning and they have given me the package for £18 for 3 months and told me to ring again then when they will do another deal (they're only able to give 3 months at a time at the moment).
So (before I saw this thread) I went off to Maplin's and, seeking advice, was sold a Linksys Wirelsss - G network kit for £39.99 which will be fitted tonight. The package includes a laptop card.
