Can't sell our house..

I hadn't realised that your home is an ex-council house. I think that could be your major problem. If the house is situated in the middle of a council estate, surrounded by council houses, then it is going to be a very hard job to sell for the simple reason that people do not wish to live on a council estate when they are buying. Those interested in buying will be people who have been brought up on that estate or a similar one, or simply cannot afford anything else."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. Ok - really hoping we can knock down the prices of where we are going to then!0

Weights and shoes under the bed, gives the impression of lack of storage, also clothes horse in kitchen give impression of nowhere else to dry clothes, Lastly orange colour in bedroom makes room seem dated.

95% of the houses around us (in fact they are nearly all bunglows) are privately owned, so does your point still stand?
Sorry I don't mean to come across as rude, I am just intersted in this point:)
Also we are right on the outskirts, not in the middle of the estate, we are in a cul-de-sac with only us and our next door neighboors. All the other houses back onto the from of ours - iykwim0 -

There is plenty of storage, however I am what is commonly known as a hoarder and so I have far too much stuff!
I take your point on board and see if there is somewhere else those bits can go.
Have commented already on the hidious orange colour! Hate it and want to get rid - I will have to show my hubby these comments then maybe it can go!:T0 -
Ok. I take your point. Just to show you how complicated this house selling lark can be, let me give you another scenario. You say nearly all the houses surrounding yours are bungalows. That means old people. If my ex and I had been coming to look at your house, she would have been shouting "it's a 'grab a granny' area around here. I'm not bringing the kids to live here!" Could that be a problem? I'm in my early 60's now, but 20 years ago I wouldn't like to have lived and brought up kids surrounded by people who'd always be complaining about the kids playing football or making a noise.
Who's been to see your house? Have they been newly weds? Couples with kids? Old people? Maybe an analysis of your potential buyers could give you a clue to who wants to buy your house."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I take it that the orange bedroom is the master bedroom:eek:, it looks like it belongs to a child/teenager. If you are serious about selling, this room is the one in most need of a makeover to look more grown up. Sorry!! Don't forget you will be aiming for a first time buyer, who may think it's too much hard work and money to put this right.

I have access to professional Rightmove where you can search an area for all archived property listings (houses that sold or were removed from the market unsold).
You're right - similar properties have sold for about £120k so you're not desperately over-priced. However, in the last 2 years or so a LOT of houses have come on the market and eventually went off the market when the sellers gave up trying to sell. When a buyer comes along they do pay the price, but it seems like there are just too many houses for sale for the number of people that want to move into the area.
If you're desperate to move, all you can do is drop the price and hope the bargain tempts someone in. Otherwise, it will just be a waiting game.0 -

Thank you thank you thank you, I know I was not going mad about houses selling for £120k - but thank you for confirming that!
Although not such good news about properties not selling.
I guess you're right and it's just a waiting game.
I'm just getting so frustrated by the whole process.
And I'm getting so sick of people viewing, saying the house is lovely, but that they have seen somewhere else... (sigh)0 -

No, the orange bedroom is the 2nd bedroom. I think I know what I will be doing this weekend..painting! lol
It's so awful I can't believe we have lived with it for so long - but as it's a spare room we don't really use it much.0
