They are not being asked to take the product back, merely to charge the stated price and refund the differnce

Read my post again, it's the way systems work.

£2.99 product refund - £1.00 product sale = £1.99 cash refund. I didn't think what I posted was that difficult to understand.

It's not just the co-op, I've had the same thing with other supermarkets as well. Now I just have a quick check of the receipt and get it sorted at customer services before I leave the store.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Generally a refund will be put through at the full price and the product sold again at the amended price.

Not doing this would mess up the stock management system.

IMO, nothing at all underhand going on here apart from people jumping to conclusions.

but i wasnt jumping to conclusions  and i dont consider it an isolated incident as its been happening for months??? FWIW i run stock control at work so i understand the methodology, i was merely agreeing with the poster that the receipt you sign shows the full prediscounted price

I love shopping there but it feels like i have to take the barker to the till with my shopping to ensure i pay the price that the goods are offered for- SURELY that cannot be right?? and i have 4 stores close to me- this has happened at all of them although it is far worse at the closest ( or perhaps thats just because i am there more often..)

The nearest superstore is 30 min drive away and i find that difficult to justify for the litle i buy that cannot be grown on my allotment..

Anyone else have a practical solution to my problem? :)
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation ;)

^^ totally agree, i even add up my bill as i fill my basket BUT it gets tedious having to continually challenge the total/receipt then queue and wait for it to be sorted- a 5 min shop became nearly half an hour this evening and this has happened so often, i have had enough  it may seem petty for a couple of ££ but it soon adds up..

Got the bit about the refund, but not why I have to sign for 2:99 when they only actually return 1:99

The refund slip will show the full price as that is the price it was on the system at. That is then followed with another sale at the amended price. If you know about stock systems then you should know that 1 sale at £2.99 - 1 refund at £1.99 will equal no actual product sales which will corrupt the stock file.

The practical solution to your problem is really to contact Head Office and complain. Mistakes happen but happening frequently at all stores suggests there is a problem with the data that Co-operative is sending to their stores.

I don't know what is difficult.

Sold at £2.99 (wrong price) - receipt given

Refund at £2.99 (refund receipt signed by customer)

Sold at £1.00 (stated price) - receipt given

    Sold at wrong price, correct

Refund at 2:99 incorrect, they do not return the full amount, so why does the full amount need to be signed for

    Sold at 1:00 correct

Is the issue with Co-operative Food stores or stores owned by independent Co-operative societies?
