I'm going to plead my case for chemo tomorrow. Hopefully they'll find somewhere that will let me start in about a fortnight, that's the usual to get it organised.

Really don't want to wait a month ... so onwards and upwards with assertiveness tomorrow.

    Hi All.

    Where do I start.

I was positive and assertive but my oncologist just wrings every good feeling out of me. Surgeon makes me want to beat it...must be a personality thing.

    So positives...

She's agreed I can have chemo before surgery but shes not happy
She's agreed I can have a Hickman Line inserted so that's happening next week.
She's acknowledged that this new chemo will probably make me very sick so she's going to organise an anti-emetic pump which will drip feed drugs into my system.

    Negatives...

Can't get a date because there are people with worse cancers than me waiting.
She wants me to have a mastectomy because that way they won't miss anything again.
She had no idea what I was talking about re the borders beds and dismissed it.

Feeling a bit down...she really deflates me.

    Hi Taxi.

She's just signed the form to authorise it when I was there and I've signed the consent.

6 rounds of Carbplatin and Taxotere combined. Every 3 weeks.

I asked about weekly and I was told no. I'm too strong to qualify, it's more work for them and I'd be sick every week. Pointed out I;m sick every week regardless.

Allegedly they have 31 days from date of diagnosis to get me in. Diagnosis was 14/01 so really the max wait should be 3 weeks. They've warned me that they might simply phone me and tell me to come in two days later. I've been given pre-chemo steroids to take home and lorazepam to try and reduce the anxiety about the side-effects before they pump me full of the stuff.

    Have you had this combo?
