Bad Bad Booby

Hi there, back again with a new set of challenges.

I finished off a £100k plus house conversion without any extra loans and my dad moved into his part at the end of June. It was very intense during the first week or two but now we've settled down and everyone is ticking along happily.

I was lucky enough to have my contract extended which meant a decent income until Christmas and the chance to burn off a big bit of my mortgage.

My ex-OH eventually moved out and we agreed a financial package (well 2 actually in case the mortgage companies won't allow option 1).

Son has Aspergers and just going into 6th year at school. He's trying so hard to get the passes he needs to go to college next year but he failed his highers meaning we need to pick him up, dust him off and start all over again. i'm just so proud that that he keeps his head up and pushes onwards.

And then, the week before my birthday on June 29th the hospital informed me I had Breast Cancer and it had spread to my lymph nodes.

So contract on hold and zero money coming in.
Chemo started in July and currently had 2 out of 6.
Surgery in New Year and Radiotherapy about Easter.

Good news is I comparatively young and slightly fit. My dad and son are on my side but I hate worrying them. It's quite a nasty cancer and so I've signed up to a clinical trial as well to try and squish it.

I've also got a market readiness company and a letting agency to try and minimise the impact of the letting business on me. It'll cost but it will allow me to keep the businesses ticking over while I'm not on top form.

So, I need to try and get thro the next 12 months. Chemo has been hard so far and I've been hospitalised twice.

I need somewhere to vent a bit and be able to post my little victories (still have books and an insurance job to manage). I need to ensure I don't blow beyond my savings this year...and want to start looking forward to 2012 and the new me.

All contributions welcome...it would be lovely to hear from folks while I'm here at home / hospital most of the time.

Hi kissjen, didn't want to read and run.

You have such a lot going on - well done on the house conversion :T

Best of luck with your treatment.

    Thanks SashyBoo.

For once having lots feels very daunting. One of my tenants burned one of the houses down and the insurance job is dragging which is very stressful at the moment.

With the help of the good folks of MSE, I'll find that wee bit of oomph needed to get these big hairy pear-shaped jobs kicked into touch.

Cunning plan at any rate :j

Yes, MSE is always good for a bit of oomph. :D I find posting in my diary and reading other people's helps keep me on track a lot more.

 @ tenant burning the house down!

And she got very stroppy when I said she wouldn't be getting her deposit back.

She put on a chip pan and then went downstairs to play with her one and five year old kids. Council refused to re-house her, so soft touch here gave her an empty flat that had just come on the market. She left both leases with no notice and no forwarding address...what a star

Little parcels of oomph appreciated as loss adjustment was poor and we're still uncovering issues...I need an oomphy fairy :Ato come and visit me.

We're at 4 months and counting. By the time the insurers looked and reported the builders had all gone on holiday. Then I started chemo (and wasn't a star patient :o) and now it's dragging.

I need oomph...no more buckets - my dad bought me matching ones...the shame

So everyone...a sprinkle of oomph and I will compose a long complex schedule for loss adjusters tomorrow...every twinkle counts :T

Thanks Clippy_Girl. I'm taking it one day at a time and genuinely thankful for the good days.

I'm meeting some amazing people who put my oomphless moans to shame...but it's my issue du jour and so I'm going to work myself up to doing this schedule and then have 40 winks to celebrate :j

Going to make dinner....oomph on high alert.

Home made sweet and sour with chicken, fresh peppers, brocolli, pineapple and brown rice. That should perk up the saggy bits :p
