think it's because all cancers are up not just breast cancer so more people needing treatment coupled with cut backs in nursing staff when in fact they should cut back on paper shuffling managers...
How true is this.

You are best pushing them for your hospital as I really don't think it's a good idea to be driving...eg the chemo I've just been on was every week and the pre meds via iv were steroids, anti histamine and ranitidine
Why should you have to have the stress/expense of booking hotels/travelling0 -

My uncle had stomach cancer ... they said that by the time they found it, he'd probably had it around 8-10 years. He'd not had symptoms, it was found when they were doing a scan for something else (can't remember what now)
He had surgery and then had huge complications from it and was really, really ill for a long time - even now, he's not back to normal / as well as he was before having it. So ... another case where they maybe should've just left well alone!
They reckon it takes years for a cancer to be big enough to be noticed often over 6 years. The data I found was something along the lines of you start with 1 cell, then 2, then 4 etc. There needs to be a billion cells to be felt.
So on a scanner you can spot a tumour after 25 divisions, you can feel a tumour after about 30 divisions. The aggression of the cancer is reflected in this doubling time which can be anything from 10 days to many months. Mine is aggressive. If it is a new tumour this grew in under a year which means a doubling time of around a fortnight. Even if the maths are off...I'm not keep on waiting.

So looks like first order of business is persuading frosty to let me have chemo close to home.

omg KJ thank goodness it has not spread... but everything else is pretty much carp... as if you dont have enough to worry about... What a dilemma..:(
Taxi you are spot on but it is not just cancer... It is also heart patients ( and probably most nhs departments, just dont have knowledge of them ..)
they are rightly treating people in their 80`s with by pass operations and other procedures... (my dear old dad had his at 70)... but there are now so many people coming into the clinic the surgeons/staff literally cannot cope with the amount.. they are at full capacity.. hence waiting times, cancellations .. forgetting about patients (my husband included) is unfortunately becoming the norm. Very frightening... Meanwhile the level of management they seem to have just grows and grows... quango city...!!!!!
Beanie hope you are okay... you are so supportive of others... sounds like you are in a bit of a fix0
