HI SH. He sort of knew it but more through his "Lets think positively" interrupting me everytime I tried to broach the seriousness. Bizarre really, he got the picture only last couple of days and today....

Surgeons confirmed all the cancer is out...lymphs and tumours. Only 1 out of 21 lymphs was infected which is blooming marvellous. Local recurrence using the treatment I've had is only 2%, national average is 18% so it's looking really good.

See radiologist tomorrow to get radiotherapy scheduled just to make sure any rogue cells are mopped up.

But pretty much I can say as of today, things are looking pretty darned good :j:j:j:j:j

Thank you again for all the kind thoughts and words from everyone here, they all have helped more than you'll ever know xxxx

  • Thats fantastic to read, I'm really happy for you, brought a tear to my eye. You have been through the mill and back clearly and you've had no choice but to face it and go through it but you sound so dignified in your posts its really humbling.

Hope you feel well enough to celebrate some way soon x

DFW - I'm also going :D:D:D:D:D:D Just can't believe the results were so good. Even the Grade (which shows how aggressive it is) dropped and I've never read about that happening before so whoopee-frickin'-doo!!

KM - I've been called many things in my time but never dignified. Thank you so much (you strangely deluded lovely person :A).

LB really helped me in thinking about all the data and the choices made so I could question everything. That made me feel great going into the meeting. I've also requested all my records via the Data Protection Act just as a little safetynet in case we ever need the info again. I've learned so much in 6 months but mostly how wonderful people and support arrive when you least expect it. We shan't mention the support that also disappears like mist, not worth our breath :o

I hope everyone's had a good day so far.

Met consultant radiologist today and signed up for 5 weeks of treatment. She was really helpful and very honest in answering questions. On the good side it shouldn't make me sick like chemo but it will probable leave me very tired and with poor concentration for a period. I asked about going back to work (had 2nd interview lined up for Monday) but she advised against unless money was critical as I'd probably struggle.

Given my reputation is how I get work, it makes better sense for me to get well and go back in April time rather than go back now and end up pullling out in Feb/Mar because I can't manage the hours and/or the pressure. Disappointing but ultimately the right decision for me, I think.

So now I've made that choice I think I'll sign up for the nutritional classes at the Maggie's Centre, may as well improve my knowledge and health during this period.

Hi KJ - really pleased to hear about how well the treatment is going...

The advice re working sounds "sound" even tho I can appreciate its disappointing for you - its better than setting yourself up to fail. Nutritional classes sounds good

You are inspiring even tho you are probably unaware - you are doing amazingly well - and I admire how well you and SB are coping

Thanks SH. I know it's sensible but I was so keen to go back my hope over-ruled my sense. Anyway, all fixed now and I've asked the agency to explain the situation properly to the client so it doesn't look like I've just changed my mind.

I certainly don't feel like an inspiration, and it's very kind but I think everyone on here would just get on with it because that the type of people they are. Look at what you and Taxi have overcome, flaming superstars to get through all that.

    Rant Alert:

I feel really uncomfortable with this "Rite of Passage" nonsense that some folk in books and the press go on about. Cancer is carp, no-one deserves it, it's not a gift that allows you to grow and develop and you should be allowed to moan, biatch, shout and hate it. Surviving it doesn't make you "special" or a "complete woman", it makes you lucky. Some of the stuff written about how you have to be selfless and strong and thinking that a pink, fluffy bear will somehow make it better is so stereotypical and insulting the eejits who write it should shot for using up valuable air.

    :Rant Over

Honey we get through it because we have to get through it..no ifs/no butts.I too don't see myself as inspirational but plenty of others do.I think we just find an inner strength to carry on after all we can't give up hope can we.I don't know about you but the treatment plan and the pace of it/tiredness etc kept me from thinking too much and to be honest it has hit me more mentally the last few months and that is apparently very common once treatment ends so please be aware of this and that it is normal.
I had my first mammo since treatment yesterday and it's knocked me for six...I am/was scared...I want/don't want the results..I want them to tell me it's fine but I don't want to hear if it's back IYSWIM.
you are doing the right thing regarding work ...you have plenty of time to work in the future the most important part of healing is lots of rest and plenty of sleep as the body heals best when sleeping...
    Big hugs xxx
