Hi KJ - well done on tackling what must have been one of the hardest discussions of your life! You truly are amazing. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I presume the surgeons are talking about reconstructive surgery - they are probably trying to put a positive spin on the impossible.... and not taking enough account of their audience or being remotely sensitive enough.... but there we go....

Glad your SB was stronger than you expected, that must have helped a lot....

Hi Kissjen, didn't want to read and run.

I just have to say good luck for your surgery and you are doing a fantastic job with SB, you should be mega proud of yourself. I have to add that reading your posts has made my problems pale by comparison.

I had the dodgy smear and had the cells burnt off and just waiting for the results of the pathology on them. Keeping fingers crossed but just gotta keep positive.

I really hope all goes well next month. I will be sending out lots of healing vibes for you and will say a wee prayer that all goes well.

Hi Beani, Bast, SH and Bonsi. Thank you all for your kind words. Small Boy is really doing well with this and now we're planning to make plans for next year.

Went Charity Shop shopping with a friend this morning. Found absolutely nothing in six shops, came home and got a couple of board games in the one up the road. That'll give us some new games to play in the evenings now its dark so early.

Still need to head into the loft so I can get the Christmas Stuff down...really can't remember what state my ancient fairy lights are in (some I remember from our first house when I was a kid...we left when I was 14 so that's 30+ years ago). Oh my god, both me and the fairy lights are relics! I suppose we could say we've had our money's worth from them...must see ifI can salvage them for another round of happy families :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Planning a games night after Christmas. We're inviting over some equally sad friends, make lots of nice snacky food and play over complicated board games with much cheating and huffing (if past experience is anything to go by).

Going to make a giant calendar this afternoon and get everything between now and New Year on it and up so we can all see what we're up to. Categories (cos my brain is getting very old)

Hopefully that should remind me of the key things, getting concerned because this week is just appt after appt all over the place and I'm concerned I double book and mess up somewhere.

Thanks Taxi. To be honest I remember going through this when my mum died. He was 11 and spent loads of time with her, she really adored him. Ex-Husband was a complete and utter !!!!!! which was made even more unpalletable because his parents used to go out with mine twice a week AFTER the divorce. They all refused point blank to babysit because "You're a b**ch who we'll never help" so I ended up having to take SB to the hospital ever day until she died.

I will never understand what went thru their collective heads but he saw things I never wanted him to. And when she did die, SB attended the funeral in his primary school uniform and shook hands with all the mourners and thanked them for coming. That included his other grandparents...this is a bad soap opera. Anyhow, after that he made a memory box and never cried or got upset about it again. That has never changed to this day and I think it's exactly what will happen when I die. Regardless of that's next week or twenty years, I do insist on going first :)

So I think I've done the right thing and he will be armed with all the insider info he needs. His other grandmother is also dead now, I was barred from the funeral by his father. He made my dad take him on the bus as they didn't include him in the funeral cars. They then all drove past my 80 year old dad and SB who were left to get a bus home. If there is a haunting committee I can sign-up to on the other side, I'm coming back to spook them for eternity...nasty nasty people.

Sorry...bitter and twisted rant over...but maybe illustrates why these "people" are never, ever getting their hands on what's SBs.

you have every right to be bitter and twisted at the heartless, insensitive gits...you can hold your head up high in the fact you've brought DS up to be a strong boy.

You are doing great holding everything together ...sending you some big hugs today as I think you need them xxx

    Thanks Taxi...hugs gratefully received.

I have been in the loft and got Christmas stuff down. Strangest thing ever...the whole lot - tree hangings, tinsel, stocking, lights etc etc weren't in the old carppy cardboard boxes I remember. I must have decanted everything intop 4 big really useful boxes...everything's clean, tidy and works. What a lovely surprise from me to me :T:T:T

Grandad has cataract surgery on Thursday. His eyesight is completely unaffected at present so it'll be fixed before he ever suffers the effects. Just need to remember to go and pick him up :o:o:o

Large ham joint in the slow cooker with apple juice. Too big to fit, so I sawed a chunk off and made lentil soup too :D:D:D

We are getting there...all with your fantastic support
