Woke up this morning and the skin on my back and breast felt really tight plus it looked reddish. Luckily was going to hospital anyway for ultra sound. They've confirmed that there's nothing suspicious but I've an infection hence the pain. Now on antibiotics. If it doesn't start clearing during the week I've to get in touch and they'll probably put me on IV antibiotics. Back next Monday for another check regardless.

Best thing about cancer unit on a Monday and Thursday is that the Edinburgh Food Co-operative have a stall selling fresh fruit and veg. They always have really nice stuff at decent prices. Bonus for staff and patients.

Kittens are asleep together in box and husky is checking on them.

Hi Buffy. I've still got the honey...it's very very sweet. Good thought though. I think I'll resurrect the smoothies. Saw a programme tonight extolling the virtues of blue berries for concentration, those and some honey and yoghurt may work.

One of my old team was down with his wife tonight. They brought fresh veggies from their garden, flowers (no lilies) and cream cakes. What wonderfully, kind people, love them to bits. A team lunch is being held for me on the 15th, they'll invite whomever I wish there. Looking forward to that.

An ex-boss has also invited me to lunch or dinner on week of 12th August so that's another trip out to look forward to.

Hickman line is being removed on Monday which will be grand. Once that heals I'm going for a long soak in the bath. I don't think it hurts but if anyone's been through it please let me know.

All things furry, including SB, are well.

So its fingers and toes crossed stage then. I really hope this is it this time. Your trips out sound lovely. What thoughtful people.

As for the DLA it seems to me that virtually everyone that applies gets rejected first time. As if they want people to give up and not get money they are entitled to. I guess you will have to appeal. Is there someone knoweledgeable that can look over what you submitted, to get all i's dotted and the ts crossed.

Hope the antibiotics work soon for you and you'll be pleased to know it doesn't hurt having the hickman line removed and only takes a few seconds..lot easier coming out than going in.

  • Hi KJ just catching up :) agree that the trips out sound good. Just what you need I expect :) I hope your infection has cleared up by now and you're feeling a bit better?

p.s I loved the 'Scottish Tan' bit lol, my Scottish friend down here is always complaining about the sun, she also reckons she is blue and her and the sun don't mix ;) lol it made me think of her when I read that ! xx

    Hi Chev,

DLA was awarded at lowest rate, appeal was rejected. The paperwork was done by Macmillan Nurse so I think that's why I got something.

    Hi Taxi,

Great news on Hickman thanks. PICC and Central Lines were painless coming out so this should make the triple.

Saw agent for lunch today. She's going to start getting my CV out and about, hoping for something to appear in September. I've to update my CV over the weekend and we'll go from there. Exciting times, hope I can stay awake all day :rotfl:

Hi Beanie, yes it's lower rate care.

I had the Hickman line removed today. The Dr was one I know from the two cancers and she's lovely. Talked me through the whole process and there was very little discomfort. She showed me the line and explained how it all worked afterwards which was fascinating and the wound isn't hurting.

I've to go back in 6 weeks to see the surgeon as he wants to do a final lipofill of the surgical area. He says it's a comparatively simple procedure compared to the other surgery I've had.

Met with my agent on Friday and I've to send her my updated CV tomorrow morning. She's going to start looking for a role for me from September. No idea if there's anything out there but it would be good to be in a role before Christmas.
